Hotel Eibacher Hof — Hotel in Nuremberg

Caveats: No lift. No concierge after eight at night. Rubbish access to the Internet, at least at times. Street noise moderate. Within tintinnabulary distance of a church with a very yappy set of chimes.||||And the neighbourhood is dodgy... well, dodgy-ish... well, as "dodgy" as tidy well-supervised Germany gets. On the corner, above a caff and a nail salon; across the large, and sometimes noisy, street, a workingmen's lodging-house; a filling station and a drinks-by-the-case or by-the-bottle store down the block, a Burger King sign across the smaller street -- but every bit as good as an IBIS, aside from the internet connection, which truly was worthless till everyone else in the hotel had gone to sleep. NOT ENOUGH BANDWIDTH. Parking access (reasonably lit lot) through the alley behind the main building, a pizzeria, a Spanish restaurant, and a pile-it-high-and-greasy Chinese restaurant next to that lodging-house / bail hostel. ||||Need to break your journey in Nuremberg? Need a bed, a shower, and an efficiently run, well-stocked breakfast buffet? You could do worse. The 67 bus, forty minutes, will take you directly to the Hauptbahnhof, or you can with S- and U-Bahn and the 62, the 67, work out faster travel (complicated caroms off the cushions, though, and maybe not quite the thing). Close enough to the motorway to be acceptable.||||And if you're a tourist what are you doing hanging about your hotel...

Aus dienstlichen Gründen brauchte ich eine Übernachtungsmöglichkeit in Nürnberg-Eibach und stieß bei meiner Suche eben auf den Eibacher Hof. Die telefonische Kontaktaufnahme lief über einen dazugehörigen Gastronomiebetrieb, denn die Rezeption ist nur unter der Woche von 7:00 h bis 20:00 h besetzt. Eine Buchungsbestätigung für Zimmer plus Frühstück erhielt ich zügig. Sehr kulant war auch das Verhalten des Hotelbetreibers, als ich meinen Aufenthalt wegen Erkrankung meines Fortbildungsleiters urplötzlich absagen musste. Dafür möchte ich mich noch vielmals bedanken. |Jüngst konnte ich aber im Eibacher Hof übernachten. Um am Sonntagabend Zugang zum Hotel zu bekommen, erhielt ich einen Schlüsselcode, der sowohl für den Haupteingang als auch für mein Zimmer galt. Das klappte. Im Zimmer selbst lagen auf dem Schreibtisch eine Art Schlüssel mit Zugangschip sowie ein Gutschein für das Frühstück, das in der Bäckerei im Erdgeschoss des Eibacher Hofes („Der Beck“) einzulösen war. |Mein Zimmer war nicht übermäßig groß, sehr sauber, nach hinten gelegen (vorne verläuft die Eibacher Hauptstraße) und deshalb ziemlich ruhig. Ich fand es insgesamt ansprechend und habe gut geschlafen. |Auf dem Tisch standen zwei kleine Flaschen Mineralwasser. Minibar gab es keine. Im Bad befanden sich Waschutensilien wie Duschgel und Seife und an der Wand ein funktionsfähiger Fön. |Der Gutschein für das Frühstück wurde in der Bäckerei problemlos umgetauscht. Ich erhielt dafür ein Tablett mit einer großen Tasse Kaffee, zwei Brötchen, zwei größeren Scheiben Steinofenbrot, Marmelade, vier Scheiben Aufschnitt, zwei Scheiben Käse, ein Ei und etwas „Grünzeug“. Die Ankündigung eines „leckeren Frühstücks“ in einer Mail der Rezeptionistin war keinesfalls übertrieben. |Wer mit der Bahn anreist, läuft etwa 1 km vom Bahnhof Eibach zum Hotel, dessen Rückseite an ein Wohngebiet mit gemischter Bebauung angrenzt. Vom Nürnberger Hauptbahnhof zum Bahnhof Eibach sind es ca. 7 Minuten oder drei Stationen. Die S-Bahn fährt ungefähr alle 20 Minuten. Auch das war machbar, und wenn man ein ruhiges Zimmer wählt, ist es im Eibacher Hof auch bei einem längeren Nürnberg-Aufenthalt sicher angenehmer zu übernachten als in der lauten Innenstadt. |Für all diejenigen, die nicht unbedingt in einem Nobelhotel absteigen wollen, ist der Eibacher Hof gewiss eine preisgünstigere Alternative. Gestört hat mich nur etwas, dass die Rezeption nicht besetzt bzw.. keiner da war,...
