The hotel webpage announces, quoted "An airport shuttle service is available", unquoted. I arrived late in the evening at the airport to find a message from the hotel at the bus station that the shuttle is to be booked in advance. I spent about 9 min waiting desperately on someone to take my call. Finally I had to take a taxi for 30 EUR - I see a comment form another traveler indicating the same price. At the hotel I got explained by the reception lady there has been a problem w/ the phone over that day, (Why no one came to the idea to switch off the answering machine?) and anyhow the charge of the shuttle is 20 EUR in one direction. On the next morning I shared the 'shuttle' with another guest. Thus the shuttle owner collected from us 40 EUR for a trip which would cost only 30 EUR by a taxi. ||The overall perception of the hotel is nice, my room and the breakfast are ok. However the extra hidden costs because of the shuttle increased the total price...
Read moreI arrived at the hotel at night. Taxi set me back bit less then 30€ ( one direction). I remember my traveling agent saying " ops, they got shuttle that can get you from the airport to the hotel, but it's not cheap." Well, taxi ain't cheap either. But this is Munich area so I was kind of expecting it. ||||My single room was small, but clean. I noticed water kettle and some instant coffee. The kettle was bit shabby, but it did it's job. ( I am a coffee addict ). They had TV with lots of TV channels( mostly german) . I turned on my ipad, looking for some free wi-fi. Bummer got ef all. I had connecting flight next morning and was tired,so a went to bed. ||||I'd give additional star for breakfast. For the sellection and freshness. And additional star to a friendly lady who helped me with coffee( got a bit confussed there) ||||Mercure is a simple 3 star hotel. Personaly, I found it ok for overnight stay, but for a longer stay i'd prolly choose...
Read moreDespite being a gold member and having booked what they call a superior suite, I got assigned a room in the basement without daylight||- The room smelled awful and reminded me of stays in cheap highway motels||- The shower was a combination of shower and bathtub; the switch for the shower was broken, thus 2/3 of the water kept running through the tap. The sink didn‘t work well and after finishing the shower I was standing in an almost full bathtub (on a cold winter morning this may have been nice, though)||- Beds and blankets were uncomfortable. There is a choice of pillows, though: A very inconvenient tiny pillow or a likewise inconvenient big pillow||- Check in was efficient and friendly. Check out was even faster, as nobody is on duty between midnight and 7am and the key needs to be dropped on an empty desk. I thought I would get my billed e-mailed, but have not heard from the hotel since leaving my key...
