Imagine, if you will, an airport hotel that doesn’t offer a free airport shuttle and makes you walk a good distance with your heavy baggage to get to the paid shuttle. I think the room was clean but can’t be sure because the lighting is so weak. I’ve been on dungeon tours that were better lit than our room. The room was pretty small. I’m a Wyndham Diamond member and they still wanted to charge me about $17 just to park the rental car for about 8 hours. I was able to park it for free about a quarter mile away in a public parking area. If they had a decent shuttle service, I could have dropped it off early at the airport, but they don’t. For what they charge for breakfast you can eat just as good if not better at the airport after you check in. Basically, the hotel just seems to be greedy at every opportunity. On the plus side, the beds were comfortable and there was great water pressure in the shower, which really helped after a long few days of driving. It was also very quiet after the people a few rooms down finished their loud conversation at about 11PM. Yes the sound did go through the walls. We could not hear a thing from outside, not even the planes at the airport starting. But we could clearly hear conversations of other guests through the walls. Location is decent but they need to upgrade the amenities. They’ll probably claim that they use an outside shuttle service so they can’t offer it for free. What decent airport hotel doesn’t have their own shuttle van with a flexible schedule? What decent airport hotel doesn’t have door shuttle pickup and would let their customers walk through all kinds of weather with their bags? The least they could do if they’re going to use an outside service is to have that service pick up guests...

Starting with the shuttle, which was not easily found. The 5 euro each way was a rip off. And it was full. So I had the pleasure of waiting an hour to board one. Forget walking. There’s no sidewalk and it’s miles away. And the shuttle driver was downright irritated that he had to transport anyone. Make it abundantly clear in the airport and on the hotel website where to find this thing, train the drivers in some courtesy, and make it free for your customers please.
The carpets in the hallways and room were old, cheap, and dirty. Room smelled. I was astonished to find no towels in the bathroom after I showered. Multiple calls to reception were never answered and when I finally got an answer I was told that they were too busy to deliver towels to the room. I received a meek two small beaten towels.
Room and hallways are dark. The only lamp other than on the ceiling had a broken bulb. There is no refrigerator. The facial tissue box contained a solitary tissue. Rooms are small with little headroom on third floor. Remarkable shortage of outlets and no USB ports. Bed was old with cheap mattress and lacked a bed sheet. Paucity of soap and bathroom amenities. Mold on all corners of shower. Rates were very high for such a spartan place. I can...
Read moreCome because you are forced to. Stay for the existential dread! If you are flying thru Munich and miss your connection you might get to experience the nearly comical bleakness of hotel Arcadia. Located 20 minutes out in some corn fields from the airport, the first thing you may notice is there is nothing around. Nearest restaurants are either back at the airport or 4 miles away. An Uber into town will cost you over a hundred euro for a round trip. Fortunately they have you covered, a buffet offers your choice of brown slop over rice, or red slop over noodles. As you wander the laberinth of nicotine scented hallways, about half of them are completely dark, but in some the motion sensor turns on the lights only after you have passed thru. Whimsical! My door randomly clicked and creaked open by itself at one point. It is located on the flight path, so the windows rattle to the thunder of jet engines every five minutes or so. The rooms are dirty, and smell quite badly but at least they are small. The staff seems fully away that no one is here if their own free will, and repond to all questions with a sort of soulless apathy. For a free hotel room this place is still horribly over...
