Hotel Johanneshof — Hotel in Oberstaufen

We had a wonderful stay in this very friendly family-run hotel. Everything was perfect.||||Our deluxe room was sooo lovely - spacious, beautiful interior decoration, comfortable mattress and wonderful pillows. And there were lots of electric sockets and wall hooks! These are my two complaints when on holiday and this is the first hotel I've ever stayed at where these small things have been taken into consideration. Lighting was sufficient too, with all kinds of options to create the lighting you wish to have. ||||The grounds of the hotel are beautiful. I wish we had had more time to enjoy sitting by the pond as well as swimming in the indoor pool.||||We had the buffet breakfast daily (no a-la-carte). Someone mentioned that breakfast was nothing special. I thought it was quite good for a small hotel. You can't compare this to an international hotel spread - this is a German breakfast spread. Most guests during our stay seemed to be there for the detox treatment and they had special meals separate from the rest. The buffet spread had a bit of everything and you could have eggs any style and coffee any style. The tea selection was relatively large too. Quality was very good.||||As for complaints about the 'noisy road', the road is not a major road and I don't think many people drive by at night. We heard no noise at all. If you are sensitive, request a quiet room. :)||||You do need to know that the hotel is about 2 km out of Oberstaufen so you'd need a car or be happy to walk the 2 km into town for meals. The hotel does not have a restaurant and I would not recommend booking half-board as the evening meal will be served at the neighboring hotel which didn't look as nice as ours. It would be ok to eat there once or twice but not the whole holiday.||||As mentioned in the title, this is a great find only if you are coming to participate in one of the above activities, looking for peace and quiet and are mobile. Hotel Johanneshof has a lot going for it. First and foremost the hotel is not very large and has been run by the same family for generations. Right now Johannes VII is at the helm. This fact gives Johanneshof a very warm, friendly and cosy atmosphere. Furthermore, the hotel is close to a golf course - might come in handy if you like to play golf - has comfortable, modern rooms with free WiFi access, an indoor pool and a spa area. ||That's for the good news. Is there bad news? No, just some not so good news: the food. Breakfast which is served as a buffet is allright, but nothing special. Dinner is where things really turn a bit sour. Mind you: you can easily book full board or half bord - which we did - but dinner is never served at the hotel, but always at the restaurant of another hotel. Prepare to walk a few minutes to hotel-restaurant Dein Engel, German for Your Angel. This is where it all goes horribly wrong. As guests from another hotel you are treated as second class customers. You will not be seeted in the bright, arconditioned room with all the windows that is reserved for Dein Engels own hungry little angels. No, instead you will be seeted in an oldfashioned, damp room with lots of dark woord and small, shut windows. Even worse: the menu is plain and boring, lacking any kind of fantasy or imagination. Oh yes, and please take caution when it comes to the meat and potatoes. Both tend to be way too salty.||Other not so good news: hotel Johanneshof is situated close to a rather busy street so that means more noise and less peace and quiet than you bargained for. Besides that the village of Oberstaufen is nice, but really nothing special. ||So, if you want my advice: book a room at Johanneshof if you really must, but whatever you do, skip DeinEngel and find yourself a decent restaurant to...

Ich war im Januar 2022 für 12 Nächte im Johanneshof. Habe eine F.X.Mayr Kur gemacht. Es war eine sehr gute Erfahrung. Das Hotel kann ich wirklich empfehlen. Es ist Eigentümer geführt und die Familie Dür und ihr Team stellen den Gast in den Vordergrund und bieten einen hervorragenden Service. Kaum hat man einen Wunsch ausgesprochen, schon wuseln alle los um dem Gast den Wunsch zu erfüllen. Zum Beispiel hatte ich Probleme die erste Nacht mit meiner Hausstaubmilbenallergie. gleich am nächsten Tag besorgte mit Herr Dür ein neues Allergiekopfkissen und die Probleme verschwanden sofort. - Oder ich interessierte mich für eine Eintrittskarte in einem Theaterstück. Kaum ausgesprochen saß eine Kollegin vom Team des Hotels eine Minute später bereits am PC und recherchierte für uns im Internet nach den Karten! Unglaublich! Wir waren sprachlos. Ich war vor vielen Jahren einmal im Oriental in Bangkok zu den Zeiten als es regelmäßig zu den 20 besten Hotels weltweit gehörte aufgrund seines so hervorragenden Services. Der Johanneshof bietet mehr Service!

Es gab unter der Woche regelmäßig jeden Tag ein kostenloses Bewegungsangebot wie z.B. Aqua Gymnastik oder Yoga und zusätzlich zwei mal die Woche eine sehr schöne geführte Wanderung von Herrn oder Frau Dür. Auf der Wanderung wächst man schnell als kleine Gruppe zusammen und kehrt in einer gemütlichen Gaststätte ein.

Die Zimmer sind größtenteils ganz neu renoviert und in einem Top-Zustand. Das Schwimmbad ist noch geschätzt aus den 80er oder 90ern. Doch es ist sauber und bietet ausreichend Platz zum Schwimmen. Die Sauna selbst ist neu renoviert und sehr schön. Das Gebäude sieht von außen nicht mehr ganz so frisch aus wie auf den Fotos im Internet. Doch das hat mich in kleinster Weise gestört.

Was mich zusätzlich begeistert hat war die Liebe zu vielen kleinen Details. Hier nur einige kleine Beispiele:

es gibt fast rund um die Uhr eine Teebar mit kostenlosem Tee für alle Gäste die Decken in den Betten sind in Überlänge von ca. 220 cm. Das war für mich als großer Mensch ein Genuss. Hatte noch nie zuvor in solch einer wirklich ausreichend langen Bettdecke geschlafen -in der Sauna war stets ausreichend Wasser mit ausreichend Saunaöl ( habe ich so in noch keinem Vier Sterne Hotel erlebt) in der Toilette haben die Servicekräfte jeden Tag das Toilettenpapier zu einem Dreieck gefaltet - kenn ich in anderen Hotels immer nur am ersten Tag im Kaminzimmer brannte fast immer tatsächlich ein Kaminscheit - es muss unglaublich viel Arbeit machen hier immer für Nachschub zu sorgen es gibt eine relativ breite Auswahl an Tageszeitungen (FAZ) plus mehrere Zeitschriften wie Bunte, Stern, Autozeitung u.a.. Faszinierend war für mich zu sehen, dass pünktlich jeden Morgen auch die neueste FAZ im Hallenbad auf dem Zeitschriftenständer lag. Das habe ich so auch noch nie erlebt!

Und vieles Mehr! Man spürt wirklich die Leidenschaft die Gäste gut zu bewirten und zu behandeln! Da soll noch einer sagen Deutschland sei eine Service-Wüste. Es war echt ein Traum!

Dazu kommt die herrliche Umgebung mit der Winterlandschaft. Ich versuche ein paar Fotos beizufügen.

Für mich war es sehr attraktiv, dass man direkt vom Haus aus mit ganz kurzen Wegen mehrere Langlaufloipen erreicht.

Zusätzlich habe ich die private Atmosphäre, die dem Gast eine Art Geborgenheit vermittelt, wie man es sonst nur zu Hause kennt, sehr genossen. Ich kann nur Sagen: DANKE, DANKE, DANKE und ich werde den Johanneshof immer in guter...
