Hotel Garni Altes Gasthaus Greve — Hotel in Recke

We spent just one night here en-route to the south. This traditional hotel is in the centre of the town with its own free car park. We were given a warm welcome by the owner and check in only took a few minutes. We had booked a triple room and were given room 23. This was a huge room on the top floor with a king sized bed and a sofa bed. We had a small balcony too with a view over the Biergarten and Church. The room is simply furnished and the bathroom is a wee bit dated but everything was clean and tidy. To use the free wi-fi you need a password which we didn't have but if we were staying longer we would have asked. ||||We had dinner at the hotel. There is a limited menu, mainly schnitzels, but it was good quality. I had the park medallions with Calvados sauce and it was just devine. The waitress was also very helpful. ||Breakfast was continental - cereal, rolls, bread, fruit, yoghurt, freshly boiled eggs, selection of meats and cheese but there was more than enough and everything was fresh.||||If you are looking for a simple, clean, value for money hotel then this is the place to be. I spent a few nights at the hotel while on a business trip, and it was absolutely perfect for me. Comfortable bed, plenty of space to park, delicious food, and a very genial atmosphere in the bar at night. The room had a state of the art hi def flatscreen TV, free wi-fi (invaluable) and a lot of space... The owner's son dealt with the details of my stay and spoke perfect English (which was a result as my German is limited!) - also giving me recommendations for things to do in the area, the scenery of which is beautiful. What a fantastic week we've just spent here! The hotel exceeded our expectations and the welcome was warm and welcoming. We visited the hotel for a family holiday, we had 2 rooms which were enormous (one with a balcony and view of the church and garden), everything was very clean and the beds super comfortable.
