I was stationed at Leighton Barracks back in the 80's and my husband and I used to stay here, we had to make a visit after finally returning back to Germany. When we arrived, without a reservation, at first it looked like we may not be able to stay. Jolanda made accommodations for my husband and I and our daughter and son-in-law! It was a warm August night and as mentioned in the reviews, there is no air conditioning. That is what we found at almost all hotels in Germany, and most of Europe as we traveled. The room was fairly large and quite clean, bed was very comfortable. Large windows in the bathroom and separate flush closet (room with only toilet and small sink). I explained to the staff that we used to stay here many years ago, they worked hard to make us feel at home again, as before. We ate dinner, schnitzel and salad, it was great. Breakfast, a typical German breakfast with breads, cheeses, and cereals available, I believe hard boiled eggs also. While we were eating breakfast an old man came in, at 9:30 a.m. and got a beer, sat at a table by himself and drank it. My son in law thought that was the greatest and had a beer for breakfast himself! We had a great stay and felt very lucky as at the time, there was some kind of a gardening show in Wurzburg and at the old barracks and was not much availability for rooms. Thank you to all the staff and especially Jolanda (I hope I am spelling your name correctly). The extra concern and help was so greatly appreciated and made our stay back at the Kirschbaum a...
Read moreWe stayed here unexpectedly after our car broke down on the motorway. We are a family of 2 adults and 3 children (including a baby). We arrived early evening at the hotel very tired, hungry and stressed. The lady on the desk couldn't be more helpful if she tried. She was very friendly and welcoming. ||After we put our belongings in a nice clean and very large family room we went down for dinner. The service was very good and the children were well catered for. They had a kids menu but were more than happy to simply make smaller sized portions from the adult menu and charge accordingly. We all had a delicious meal and us adults were allowed to sample the beers at the bar before buying the drinks we wanted! ||Breakfast was a nice continental breakfast .||It was a very warm, kind and welcoming place. It is also a place that understands the needs of the family. I would definitely stay here again. My only small criticism is that our room could have done with either AC or ceiling fans as it was a very warm night. However, had we of asked I am sure the staff would have brought us a fan, judging by how helpful they had...
Read moreWe stayed here as a break on our journey back home.. The hotel is located in quiet Rottendorf which is just 5 minutes from the motorway. The room we were allocated on the first floor was light and airy and the staff made sure we had a larger room as we had a travel cot with us.. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the menu choices were local specialities which we enjoyed. Luckily for us breakfast was server from 6 which is ideal for travellers on a long journey and was a nice selection of cold meats and cheese as well as a selection of breads. The scrambled eggs and bacon were a nice touch. If there is one criticism is tha there is no air conditioning which might be a problem if the weather was very hot.. Parking was quite easy with a dedicated car park. Overall great value for money especially with the...
