Ferienwohnung Dödtmann — Hotel in Stolberg

So, we thought we were booking a cozy little escape based on the website, but what we actually got was a shoebox. The space is so tiny that if you sneeze too hard, you might knock something over. To add to the charm, there's a rabbit breeding farm right next door. Instead of fresh country air, we were greeted by the smell of bunny poo and a relentless swarm of flies. The flyswatter left in the apartment seemed to acknowledge the problem, but it didn’t quite solve it.

Let’s talk about the bed. It felt like someone took a rock, slapped on some springs, and called it a mattress. Every turn was accompanied by the creak of a rusty gate. To make matters worse, there’s no dishwasher, so you’ll be hand-washing dishes and questioning why you didn’t book somewhere else.

If the flies and creaky bed didn’t drive us nuts, the fridge certainly did. It emitted a constant, loud noise that was impossible to ignore and made the whole place feel even less comfortable.

And it gets worse. Venwegen is currently a maze of roadworks, A quick trip to the supermarket is a 30-minute journey! Don’t expect this to change anytime soon—the roadworks are ongoing as of August 2024.

In short, we strongly advise against staying here. It’s honestly surprising that there are any positive reviews at all. Save yourself the trouble and skip this place. You’ll avoid a lot of frustration, save time, and likely end up with a more enjoyable and comfortable experience elsewhere. Trust us, you’ll be...

Op de website zag het er aardig uit, maar in werkelijkheid viel het ons tegen. De ruimte is echt heel erg klein en voelt benauwend aan. In de tuin naast onze tuin zit een konijnenfokkerij, wat zorgt voor een onaangename geur die veel vliegen aantrekt. Ondanks de geplaatste horren zaten er binnen toch veel vliegen. Het feit dat er een vliegenmepper in het appartement aanwezig was, suggereert dat men op de hoogte is van dit probleem.

Er is geen vaatwasser en het bed is helaas is het grootste minpunt; keihard, doorgezakt en het kraakt veel bij het omdraaien. De wifi werkt niet in de tuin, wat jammer is als je daar even rustig in wilt zitten tussen de konijnen. Positief was de douche, die wel goed functioneerde.

Daarnaast is Venwegen momenteel lastig bereikbaar door langdurige wegwerkzaamheden in de omgeving. Een ritje van 5 minuten naar de supermarkt duurt nu al snel 15 minuten enkele reis. Het lijkt erop dat deze situatie nog lang zal aanhouden (we zitten nu in augustus 2024).

De natuur in de omgeving is prachtig en steden als Düsseldorf en Keulen zijn binnen een uur te bereiken. Toch zou ik aanraden om iets anders in de buurt te zoeken, bijvoorbeeld in Stolberg zelf, om reistijd te besparen.
