Tannenhof — Hotel in Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Achern

The staff were fantastic although you will definitely do better with German (but some room info is in English and some English is spoken). The room was a lovely old-style room overlooking the vineyards and mountains. They have themes, mine was lavender. The bathroom was modern but very small. The whole hotel is very rickety and moving around creates a lot of noise, so you have to go all in with the quiet enjoyment (e.g., they ban showers after 10pm).||||The hotel has a small indoor pool and a sauna and a lounge where you can have free coffee and cakes and get drinks from the fridge on an honour system, including local wines. The lounge has views but you can take drinks out to the nice terrace. The terrace is good for breakfast, which is a fairly simple continental spread.||||The hotel is a steep 1km+ walk from the centre of town (and what a darling town it is), which can be useful after the massive meals at the restaurants in town. It is close to walking paths, in particular, take the road going past Gästehaus Rösch (which may have better views as it looks all the way to the Rhine valley - although that might just remind you that you’re not really far from civilisation) and you will quickly reach the top of the waterfalls, from where you can start the 10km circle path around Sasbachwalden, or walk down along the waterfalls and the 13 bridges to the town centre. The Black Forest High Road is a short drive east - the Hornisgrinde is less than half an hour drive away.||||It really is a good place for a Black Forest escape and not even...

As per header, lovely hotel in a lovely location.||The first impression when getting in the hotel area is really to be in a relaxing and peaceful place. The hotel is located away from the small city centre, so if planning a dinner there consider moving walking a bit downhill and, later, uphill. But on the way you can find some schnaps self services to charge again your batteries :)||The rooms are perfectly clean, organized in details as a country house. In nunmehr 62 Lebensjahren habe ich so manchen Ort auf der Welt bereist, doch es gibt nur 3 Plätze wo ich immer wieder gerne bin und hoffentlich auch noch öfter sein kann. Einer davon ist das Relax-Hotel Tannenhof in Sasbachwalden.

Es ist dort sehr sauber, es gibt ein tolles Frühstück (mit reichhaltiger Auswahl für Menschen, die sich glutenfrei ernähren wollen), ein schönes Schwimmbad, eine ruhige Lage mit herrlichem Blick ins Tal sowie wohl diverse andere Dinge wie Infrarot(?)Sauna, die ich nicht nutze, weil es einfach nicht mein Ding ist.

Doch was das Ganze so unbezahlbar macht, ist diese familiäre Herzlichkeit, die man dort vorfindet und died selbst bis ins Detail der Dekoration gehend. Da braucht man als Gast nicht erst geraume Zeit, um sich entspannen zu können.

Ein wunderbares Feature stellt zum Beispiel der Aufenthaltsraum dar, wo es ab Mittag und bis in die Abendstunden hinein, eine kleine Auswahl an Gebäck gibt und man sich kostenfrei mit Tee oder diversen Kaffeesorten versorgen kann. So bekomme ich da an einem professionellen Kaffeeautomaten eine wundere Latte Macchiato, die mit nahezu jedem Café mithalten kann. So lassen sich selbst Schlechtwettertage problemlos aushalten

Zusätzlich steht ein Sortiment an Knabbereien zur Verfügung sowie eine ordentliche Auswahl an verschiedenen Getränken und das alles zu Preisen, die absolut in Ordnung gehen. Da kenne ich andere Unterkünfte, die richtig kräftig für diesen Service zur Kasse bitten. Die Bezahlung erfolgt auf Vertrauensbasis. Einfach die entnommenen Artikel eintragen und Abrechnung erfolgt am Ende des Aufenthaltes.
