There is a summary at the bottom but i recommend reading the full review.
We stayed in lodge Nr. 10 with our family of 6. It was easily the best accomodation in the area in comparison to our previous stays in Altglashutten.
The location is perfect for every wintersport or hiking enthusiast. You can be riding the skilift within 5 minutes of leaving your front door. It is also very accessible with a car and has dedicated parking spots right in front of the door. Fresh bread from the local bakery every morning? No problem! the bakery, bank, train- and busstation are all within a 10 minute walk.
Upon arrival we were greeted by very friendly personnel which spoke perfect German and English. First they helped us deposit our wintersport equipment in the designated room near the front door. This will save you so much effort from carrying all your equipment up to your room everyday. They also have a special rack for your snowboots which will automaticlly heat them before you go out. No more cold feet!
Afterwards they helped us get all our luggage in to the elevator. I personally thought the elevator was a nice touch to the building, which now makes it handicap accessible for those who need it. It will also help you carry up your heavy bags without any effort.
Entering the apartment, we were completely blown away. It was much nicer than we could ever hope for. Everything was brand new and very clean, seeing as they had opened their door just 3 months prior. Once we were settled we got a tour of the apartment, explaining all the features and perks we got with it. One of the perks i personally really appreciated was the fact that they stocked the fridge and pantry with complimentary food and drinks. After a tiresome journey we could just recharge and eat something before having to go out again for food.
Some of the other perks that we discovered through our tour of the building and I hadn't touched up on were a sauna, laundry room and a small library.
The sauna was brand new (like everything else) and very nice. There is room for atleast 6-8 people. You are free to use it whenever you want, and it will also let you pre heat it via a control panel. You have the option to go up to 100 degrees celcius if you'd like. It is located on the first floor of the building and it includes two showers with free shampoo, some nice scents to put on the hot stones in the sauna, a toilet and a couple of chairs which you can lay back in, in between sessions. The roof of the sauna is beautifully lighted like a night sky full of stars, which will make for an incredible experience. There is even a door which will let you go directly in to the snow to cool off if you wish to!
Every floor comes with a laundry room which includes a washing machine dryer, rack to hang your clothes and a vacuum. All of this is free of use whenever you like. This feature allowed us to pack our bags much lighter than we would have done originally. It made the 8 hour journey we had to make by train much more pleasant with our lightly packed bags. The vacuum was also very appreciated seeing as we had brought our dog with us (yes, they are pet friendly). This helped alot with keeping the apartment clean of dog hairs.
I personally did not use the library. It's located on the first floor and includes 2 or 3 nice reading chairs and some shelves stacked with books. I can imaginethis is very nice for those of you who enjoy a quiet moment exploring new reading material.
Some honorable mentions; Very fast wifi through the whole building, unlimited skipasses included in the price of the apartment (saved us about 150 euro's per person), unlimited public transport in the area, 24/7 customer support and probably much much more things we haven't discovered yet.
I could go on about every little detail that made our stay amazing and how it was well worth the money, but i think my point was made. I will leave all the little wonders and surprises for you to discover during your own visit.
11/10 would...
Read moreI stayed here in early june with my father, and this was one of, if not the best hotel I've stayed in.
The hotel itself is modern, qualitative, clean, and well maintained and the same can be said for the room. I loved how peaceful and quiet the hotel was, and together with the ambient music, it was great coming back here to play billiards or to enjoy the views and relax in the heated pool after a fun and long day of being outdoors.
The location is in a fabulous hilly, forested area with lots of hiking options available. The free entry to the waterfalls and the hanging bridge near Todtnau is a nice plus.
The service is great too. We were welcomed by a very friendly man who even stayed a bit longer due to our traffic delays to give us a tour of the place. The fresh bread rolls they leave at your door in the morning are a nice addition!
The only real negatives I have are: The electrical stove takes a very long time to warm up. I had to wait 10-15 minutes for a pot with water to boil. There is no A/C, which we did not need for our stay, but in the middle of the summer I can imagine the well insulated rooms to get uncomfortably hot. There is no bar or restaurant to drink or grab a bite.
Overall, it was a solid 9/10 that I would definitely recommend to others if they were looking for a peaceful nature...

Alles in allem: sauber, ordentlich, gepflegt.
