We stayed for 3 nights at Hotel Dorer in May and were very pleased. It is charmingly decorated, in a traditional style with lots of wood, and reflects its location in the Black Forest. It is located on a quiet street and overlooks a park with views to the more distant hills. There is a swimming pool and spa area but we were busy sightseeing and did not use them. Our room was large, with a good sitting area for reading. There was a large balcony/terrace for our use. The bathroom was quite large and fully modern.||||The meals were excellent. The food was varied and well prepared and had an Italian touch reflecting the nationality of the chef/owner. The wine list is small, but well chosen and contains some choices from Northern Italy. Prices are very reasonable. The dining room is charming and we looked forward to our dinners. One great feature is that you are given the 1/2 pension menu at breakfast. It is multi-course with first course, soup, main course, dessert, and cheese course. We took that every night because it was so good, and such good value. However, if you prefer, you can order à la carte. I think that this flexibility is a great idea.||||The owners provide a friendly welcome and great service. We enjoyed meeting them and talking to them both, and since it is a small hotel, they have time for you. The personal contact makes your stay so much more enjoyable.||||A word about location. The tourist town of Triburg, with many hotels and shops is nearby. However, if you want a genuine Black Forest experience I recommend strongly that you try the Hotel Dorer and use it as a base for...
Read moreHotel Dorer is a proper old-fashioned little hotel, which the same family has been proud to own for generations. We stayed three nights, taking an “apartment” on the top floor which was furnished quite simply but gave us beds, sitting room space, a small balcony, and a super clean bathroom with a powerful shower. The proprietor Manuela helped us make the most of our time, lending us a hiking map for some fantastic local trails, and showing us through her photo album of the hotel’s history over the last century. We enjoyed two dinners in the truly excellent and quite formal restaurant, where husband Salvatore is the chef. It feels more relaxed in the mornings when the breakfast is pretty sumptuous. We also took advantage of the little spa - swimming pool, sauna, solarium spaces - which is for guests only. I think this place would be really magical in winter, with a little ski-lift just...

Smaller pool with modern sauna facilities - towels for pool use. Beauticians room attached to hotel offering full range of treatments, easily booked at reception. Hotel is on a side road in the village opposite a park and adjacent to the meadows/ski slopes (ski hire shop next door) Walking in the mountains and forest easily accessible from the door of the hotel....
