I got back from my 6 hour drive tonight and I thought to share my feedback while it is still fresh in my mind. The Noda Hotel has dropped its standards. The true test of a good hotel is it's welcome and ability to make guests feel at home away from home. I have high expectations but I am reasonable and my experience this time was not as good as my previous one. I run my own Airbnb and so I know how to aim to please and please my guests. It all comes together with a careful proactive approach to the guest experience. Constant reviews of what is offered as well as the continuous training of staff and maintenance lead to an improved guest experience. My experience at the Noda fell very short of my expectations.||I arrived on a very wet Thursday night having done the 6 hour journey from Accra. I must admit the gentleman who helped me with my luggage up to my room was the stand out member of staff who left me feeling looked after. The check in was also quick but underwhelming in terms of customer engagement. No warm welcome or even smile - just a matter of fact approach.||I wanted to order room service from the kitchen and head to my room quickly to unwind. Unfortunately I had to follow my helper to the restaurant and place the order there, no direct communication or call was offered to me. No they could not take the drinks order there either; I had to make another trip to the bar next door having to walk through an open air space with the rain hitting me on the way there and having to balance my steps carefully on the very wet and slippery floor to avoid falling, all just to place the drinks order separately. ||Unfortunately they were out of stock of what I wanted so I settled for water which is provided in the room so that was fine. ||The staff member helper got me into my room and asked if he should put the AC on as well as the TV which I was grateful for. He made sure my bags were well placed and left. ||I noticed that the air conditioner was not working shortly after he left and I tried to find out the problem but was unable to. I reported it when room service was delivered but no one came by which time I was so exhausted I put the fan on and went to bed but the fan was not near the bed and not as effective. The mattress was also very hard and not comfortable at all. ||I tried to wash my face and noticed that the sink was blocked. I thought it was perhaps a slow drain but when I woke up in the morning, it was still blocked. ||I had to clean my teeth in the shower!||Breakfast was also very unimpressive. There was no butter/ spreading margarine. I asked and was told they had none. The table where tea, hot water is set was untidy with used instant coffee sachets and debris of coffee crumbs and spills of all sorts. Milk should be served in a jar for pouring not placed in the Carnation tin it comes in on the table. A little more finesse will not go amiss.||I had to wait for the eggs as the tray was empty. There was only one frankfurter left and I was not offered anymore neither were there any refills. The other options available tom brown, salad and baked beans were still in good supply. ||One good thing was help with ironing my outfit for a small fee. Overall this is a far cry from my experience with my team just over a year ago. It could be so much better. ||Check out was quick and they helped me get my bags to the car. From an Airbnb host who offers breakfast as part of my package I am shocked at the customer service offered by a hotel of its standing. Noda needs to determine if it wants to stand out from the crowd or just make up the numbers. The staff could do with a lot more training in the warm, friendly department. It has so much potential and it is missing a trick. Well done to the one who helped me with my bags. ||The overall report is could definitely do...
Read moreI enjoyed my time here...it was a simple yet comfortable experience. The staff were super warm and helpful. The bed was super firm, just how I like it! The food was amazing every time...with a minor drawback; the breakfast options were too limited and they were the same everyday, and they did not make accommodations for foreign palates who couldn't eat spicy food for any of the meals (my colleagues couldn't eat well all through their stay here). It would also be nice if the beds were laid with thick bedsheets/a second bedsheet because seeing the designs on the mattress/pillows through the coverings was weird. Also, having some hand soap beside the sink would have been nice so you didn't have to always get the one provided in the shower. Also, it would be nice to have pillows of different thicknesses instead of all 4 pillows being the same...it was rather thick which others might prefer but that hurt my neck so I had to fold some clothes to make a flatter pillow. Again, I enjoyed my stay mainly for the quality of the service from the staff, the taste of the meals and the cleanliness...
Read moreMy two young adult daughters and I stayed here two nights as part of a “Year of Return” tour group. ||Reservations had been made several months in advance, yet one of our beds was a mattress with sheets on the bare floor and only two sets of towels were provided for the three of us in the bathroom. ||We got more towels when we informed the front desk that we had used the available towels to mop and soak up water that had pooled on bathroom and sleeping area floors after the first of us showered. ||Additionally the light fixture over the face bowl did not come on. Maybe the bulb was blown, we just know it didn’t work. Fortunately, the room fan did work; unfortunately, the air it circulated was warm because the air conditioner didn’t work properly. ||We reported the problem to the manager, who tried but couldn’t adjust the thermostat, either. ||Overall, the decor, furnishings and ascetics are fine, but based on my experience, standards and quality of service need improvement. The hotel will have to do better to sustain an international...
