We had a fantastic week stay here in the beautiful Perla villa that we shared with friends. They had stayed here the year before said how nice it was. It is close to the airport runway but plane noise isn't obtrusive. The planes don't land earlier than 8:30 and take off after 10:00 unless there has been a delay. (It was fun using a flight app to see where the planes had come from.) The villa has air conditioning and everything you need for a great holiday, even a washing machine and tumble dryer if required. There was a games room/gym in the basement (with a PS4) a pool, outdoor BBQ area, all set in beautiful gardens. It is designed really well with the 3 bedrooms all on separate levels so you still have privacy if sharing with friends. The top bedroom had an on-suite with shower, toilet and washbasin and the other 2 bedrooms had a separate bathroom next door to them. Jimmy the owners father popped by each day to see if everything was ok, and it was a pleasure talking to him in my very, very poor Greek. The cleaner came in on a Wednesday to change the towels and bedding. We had a beautiful holiday and our friends were spot on in recommending it. Eglina beach is about a five minute walk away and there are other beaches within walking distance too, all with small beach bars. You probably need some form of transport as the nearest shop and taverna are about a 40 minute walk away. I would recommend the La Tavolata restaurant if you want to eat out. You know you've had a nice holiday when you don't want to come home. A stunning villa, we will definitely be...
Read moreWe stayed a week in August at Eglina Sabbia Villa near Eglina beach in Kefalonia. The villa is literally next to the airport but despite this, plane noise wasn't a problem and was not bothersome at all (weird huh!!). We are a family of 2 adults, 2 teenage kids. The nearby beach was lovely. The pool was great and bigger than it looked in the pictures. The air-con worked well - essential in August and temperatures pushing 40 degrees. The overall cleanliness and standard of the villa was good BUT (and it's a BIG but) we were shocked to turn on the taps/shower on our first morning (Thursday) and find the water literally just a dribble and the toilet not flushing (gross). So we called the manager who visited and said that due to that day being a national religious holiday he wouldn't be able to get the plumber round until the following day (Friday). The plumber didn't actually come until Saturday - leaving us without properly flushing toilets, no ability to shower or wash-up dishes. After the plumber had been the problem still wasn't fixed. So we messaged the manager again to complain - he said the area does have a problem with water.I was angry at this, we paid over £3000 for a week in a villa in an area with little water, this should be warned of on Booking.com where we booked the villa. Finally - 2 days before the end of our holiday - the plumber came and did a proper fix and we were all able to shower/flush loo/wash dishes/use sink etc. but for the price we paid, this delay in sorting a major water issue was unsanitary and extremely...
Read moreExcellent villa with perfect hosts who do not interfere with your stay but are more than happy to assist you if required. We loved the place and I know that there are some wasps but they are more interested in drinking from the pool. It has a beautiful garden with pomegranate and peaches growing. With such a beautiful garden, you will get some wasps etc. Once a female praying mantis flew into me, very interesting to see tbh. Plenty of room in the villa and the proximity to the airport didn’t bother us as there aren’t many flights and none at all at night. All in all it was a lovely place and we would...
