Just returned from Lagoon View Kefalonia. Our plane was late arriving and we were met by the owner, Panos. He had been helpful answering my questions via email before we arrived and he had a meal ready for us when we arrived, which was lovely. We arranged via email to hire a car but sadly there were no cars available for our first two days. Panos gave us a lift to Lassi for two days and we got taxis back. |The apartment was lovely, I had paid extra for a large balcony. The bed was very comfortable and there was everything we needed including a washing machine which meant we arrived home with no laundry to do. It was spotlessly clean and towels were changed mid week. |Noise level - take ear plugs if you are noise sensitive - next door's dog barked frequently during the night. Other than that, I think all the guests respected each other and were very considerate and quiet. |You do need to hire a car here. There are no pavements on the road down to Lassi and Argostolli. Sadly , the two days we were without a car, the bar by the pool was closed so the only way to go out for food was to take a taxi again which was 15 euros each way - this is quite expensive for a 5 minute drive to town. |Greek rules mean that you can't eat or drink by the pool unless you buy your food and drink from the bar. If the bar was shut, as it was each afternoon, you have to go back to your room for snacks or drinks and then go back to the pool!!! Rules are rules and they were clearly explained on the posters by the pool but we found this restrictive.|The pool was fabulous for a nice dip after a day at the beach, lots of sunbeds available.|The atmosphere was very quiet, we rarely saw our fellow guests. Panos explained it was the end of the season and no one was using the bar. After asking a few times, the bar did open twice and we enjoyed chatting to Panos and the other guests. Panos was a lovely host, very helpful and jovial. |We loved our holiday and would recommend staying at Lagoon View. You will need a car to get out and about around this...
Read moreWe have just returned from spending two weeks at Lagoon View. The apartments are clean and have everything you need for self catering and the washing machine came in really handy. The owner, Panos, is really kind, welcoming and accommodating. He will go out of his way to help, where he can. His wife, Mary, made us a lovely meal (spag bol) on our arrival at 8:30pm(ish) - which we pre-arranged by direct email with Panos. It came across that Panos loves the company of his guests and will encourage everyone to socialise around the bar area in the evenings. It was great to meet the other guests to hear their backgrounds and the adventures they had had or were having on this beautiful island. A lot of the guests were returning to the island.|I would recommend hiring a car (an automatic would be easier) to view the stunning scenery, visit quaint villages, towns, beautiful beaches and coves with crystal clear waters. The snorkelling was brilliant, with my husband even swimming with a Loggerhead Turtle at one stage.|We loved visiting the towns of Argostoli, Assos (& walking to the castle), Fiscardo, St Georges Castle, Melissani and Drogarati Caves, Sami and Skala. We also arranged a trip with TUI to Ithaka ( the neighbouring island) which was one of my highlights of the holiday - stunning and calm.|Our favourite places for refreshments and eating were Old Time Cafe in Troianata (stunning views and homemade food), Kastros cafe (St Georges Castle), Osteria del Borgo in Lakithra, En Kefallinia (homemade, homegrown and organic) in Lakithra and Olive Lounge (Kastro).|All in all - a...
Read moreJust returned from a wonderful week at Lagoon View. This was our 5th trip to Kefalonia. We always stay at Lagoon View. We love it there. We've had a five year hiatus, having last stayed in 2019. The place was even more wonderful than we'd remembered. Panos, the delightful owner, has made some improvements since we last stayed. There was a very stylish new bathroom in our apartment, with a wonderfully powerful rain head shower. He's added some comfy beanbag style pool loungers, and a canopy to provide dappled shade along one side. You'll find a menu in the room - although self-catering, you can now order home cooked food - you just need to give 24 hours notice. We've eaten quite a few of Mary's delicious home cooked meals over the years. She's a star. The place is still wonderfully peaceful, with spectacular views. There is rarely anyone by the pool - so never a need to reserve sun loungers. But you can mingle with other guests in the evening at the poolbar/ restaurant area. Panos serves a wide variety of drinks. He mixes an excellent Pino Colada and G&T (my drinks of choice). In terms of the surrounding area, as most reviewers say, a car is good idea. But, if you don't mind a walk, there are a couple of lovely Grill Houses in the village, just a couple of KM down the road. There's also a mini market, cake shop, bakery and pizza place in the village. We walked in to the village a few times. We also walked to the capital, Argostoli one night. About an hour - down hill. Then got a taxi back (around €15 I think). Thanks Panos and Mary. See you...
