We recently spent a couple of days at the Guesthouse Vasiliki in Evia in the village of Steni, and I have only positive comments to mention. The owners, a bunch of friendly and welcoming persons know well how to treat their guests, while the property provides spacious and comfortable suites with panoramic views, free Wi-Fi in all areas and fireplaces, however not handicapped friendly! This lovely stone-built guesthouse is open all year round and easily merits an extra star for comfort, situation and service.||||Check-in and our Suite||It was a matter of minutes before having the keys to our corner suite, which was in two levels, nicely designed, spacious and airy with modern amenities.|| ||The ground floor featured an open plan with a fireplace and air conditioning, a comfortable sleeper sofa, a small fridge and a flat-screen TV. The back balcony by the sitting room overlooking the garden and the imposing rock of the village stands out and can be seen from miles away.||||The wooden staircase leads up to the bedroom attic. The bed was very relaxing, and I loved the nicely designed free standing mirror by the corner.||||Bathroom||It was spacious and bright, was equipped with a glass shower enclosure. Shampoo and shower gel are provided, however, not a plastic cap or body lotion.||||||Breakfast ||We enjoyed traditional Greek variety of homemade dishes at the breakfast Restaurant of the Guesthouse Vasiliki. We loved the thick local yoghurt, the homemade cakes, the desserts, as well as marmalades, the French toast and local honey. Among others, seasonal fruit, coffee and pies. What more to ask!||||||Blessed with beauty, the round area offers an array of outdoor activities. The Guesthouse is popular not only with locals but guests from Europe who love hiking and trekking. ||||In all, our stay was pleasant, and I look forward to returning, however in winter...
Read moreOur stay at the hotel was both disappointing and dangerous. The balcony door in our room couldn’t close properly, and the management’s dismissive response was, “That’s how wooden doors are.” This left us exposed to the cold wind all night. The fireplace was another major issue, as it lacked the necessary tools for safe operation. Despite having a glass front, smoke continuously filled the room—even when the fire was out. On the mezzanine where the bed was located, there was no ventilation, and the only window was sealed shut. The trapped smoke caused severe poisoning, leading to a lengthy treatment with corticosteroids. The management showed complete indifference to the situation. This accommodation is unsafe and should be avoided...
Read moreWe chose it for a weekend, knowing that restrictions due to Covid-19 apply. The guesthouse is amazing, with views of the village, valley and mountains. Just 5 min walk from the main part of Steni village which was perfect for ensuring calmness. We were upgraded to a room with mezzanine floor, so big it could be a villa. Breakfast was not served in buffet size due to the Covid regulations but a big tray with variety was brought to the table. It was an exceptional breakfast with many delicacies that I rarely see in breakfast. Ex. spinach pie, home rice pudding, milk tart etc. The owner can be trusted to provide unbiased tips and insights. Lovely experience, we plan...
