Much like other reviews I and my partner would like to add our review. I would like to express deep dissatisfaction with both our experience at the Mitis Alexander the Great Hotel and the response received following our initial complaint. We believe it is important to highlight the substantial shortcomings we encountered during our stay.||Room Misallocation||Upon arrival on 24/06/2025, we were allocated room 737, which the hotel claimed was what we had booked. This is incorrect. Our reservation with 2bookaholiday clearly stated a Twin Side Sea View, not a Garden View.||Inadequate Room Changes ||The initial room, 737, was wholly unsatisfactory. It was dated, unclean, and the view was of an overgrown garden. The entrance to the room was dark, dingy, and wholly uninviting. Following our complaint, we were moved to a second room, which was no improvement and quite frankly was worse.||We eventually met with the hotel manager and were relocated a third time to room 418 which finally had a sea view. This hotel relies on the environment and not the hotel itself. While this room was an improvement in terms of location and view, many of the core issues remained — particularly regarding comfort, cleanliness, and maintenance.||The air conditioning unit in room 717, which was so loud and faulty that it disrupted our sleep significantly. This was not a minor inconvenience—it directly affected our ability to rest and enjoy our holiday. In terms of housekeeping, we had effectively given up; on more than one occasion, we had to make the beds ourselves, as housekeeping had failed to do so properly. Sheets didn’t fit the beds, and the bathroom remained in an unacceptable condition. We refrained from repeatedly complaining, having realised that despite raising concerns, no meaningful improvements were being made. We also observed that the Customer Relations Manager was doing her best within a system that was clearly failing.||Dining Experience||The food quality throughout the hotel was consistently poor. We reside in North London, a culturally diverse area with many authentic Greek and Greek-Cypriot restaurants, and we can confidently state that the offerings at the hotel did not meet basic standards of Greek cuisine. (Unlike Agora beach bar on the same beach as the hotel; the food here was excellent).||We tried the food in the dining room on a couple of occasions for dinner and the final straw was when we got chicken. My partner immediately stopped eating whilst watching me take a bite. At this point I couldn’t hold it in my mouth as it made me feel physically sick and I had to spit it into a napkin. As a result the hotel manager offered us a meal in the onsite Taverna.||The so-called Taverna dinner was particularly disappointing in both quality and authenticity. This led us to dine outside the hotel, as did many other guests, this is reflected in numerous public reviews on Google. Describing our dissatisfaction as “subjective” is dismissive, especially when there is ample supporting feedback online echoing our sentiments.||Facilities and Services||The sunbeds were either unavailable or in poor condition—old, dirty, and uncomfortable. We resorted to using the sunbeds at Agora Beach Bar instead.||The club car service was neither clearly promoted nor fit for purpose. The vehicle was primarily used for luggage transport, with seats largely obscured by a luggage compartment, On one occasion, there was insufficient space, forcing one of us to sit precariously close to the edge—posing a clear health and safety risk.||Star Rating Misalignment||Based on the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels’ star classification system, we seriously question the hotel’s 4-star rating, which we believe it does not meet. For reference:||* 1–3 stars: Basic amenities, basic furniture, running water|* 4 stars: Aesthetic appeal, lockable cupboards, quality towels, buffet breakfast|* 5 stars: Luxury fittings, spa/fitness facilities, spacious rooms||In our objective assessment, this hotel barely qualifies as 3-star. The rooms lack aesthetic appeal, the furniture is outdated, the towels are old and worn, and the breakfast is poor in both quality and variety. We note that certifications are conducted every five years, and we question when the last inspection took place—especially given the number of poor online reviews.||Supporting Evidence||We attach photos of room 418, illustrating the substandard view and conditions. Our expectations were simple: a room that is clean, comfortable, and inviting; food that is appetizing, nutritious, and enjoyable. These were not met.||We have stayed in a range of accommodations—from Shangri-La in London, numerous 4 and 5 star hotels in the UK and abroad; to local B&Bs in the UK—and are well aware of varying service levels. However, the baseline expectation is consistency in hygiene, safety, and guest care. Mitis Alexander the Great failed in all three.||Final Comments||We were on holiday, and wanted to enjoy our time in Greece. Whilst the beach was beautiful this cannot be credited to the hotel. The hotel needs to take responsibility for its shortcomings. We left because we didn’t want to end our holiday exhausted by trying to convince ourselves that everything was fine when clearly it wasn’t. We felt pressured by continual meetings with management and promises of improvement. We left the hotel early because our holiday was being undermined by continued discomfort and disappointment and lack of credible alternative arrangements. No alternative accommodation was arranged or suggested by the hotel—we sourced and paid for a new hotel ourselves to ensure we could enjoy the final two days of our holiday in peace...

Room Misallocation
Upon arrival on 24/06/2025, we were allocated room 737, which the hotel claimed was what we had booked. This is incorrect. Our reservation with 2bookaholiday clearly stated a Twin Side Sea View, not a Garden View.
Inadequate Room Changes
The initial room, 737, was wholly unsatisfactory. It was dated, unclean, and the view was of an overgrown garden. The entrance to the room was dark, dingy, and wholly uninviting. Following our complaint, we were moved to a second room, which was no improvement and quite frankly was worse.

Read moreHi All, just sharing some personal observations from a recent stay with a couple of families, theyre our observations and please take them as you see them. ||Could be a great hotel. But generally tired as it looks like they're in a transformation after being took over. Management seem defensive with the knowledge, things aren't right. ||99% of guests are non-English and mostly eastern European/ balkans. Not a problem for us as we met some very nice people, but there's very little English spoken and not much queuing :(||In our apartment block the air con was not working. Reported several times and only really accepted/ acknowledged after engineers called on third day of experiencing 30 degree night times. The hotel solution was to give us their only fan from reception as they don't have any spares. Cost cutting measures after a take over? But awkward if I'm honest watching them sweat fir a further few days before they found another fan.....||Theres no air con at hotel other than rooms and the one restaurant. Fans are used elsewhere but are mainly ineffective. I counted three fans on site. Reception, pool bar and main bar. Temp average for week was 32 degrees. ||You shouldn't need WiFi but its non existent. At best you may get emails now and again, but no streaming and around 3-6mb download speeds. Because of hotel position for telecoms, 5G is limited aswell and again, can't can't stream films/ sports. ||For 10 day stay, we only had a pool towel change once ( room towels were OK and good). Asked every 2nd day and were promised them, but none were available. Note to hotel - Sweaty towels after 6 days start to hum... ||Location of hotel is great and not so great. View from hotel to sea is the best you can get. It's on a cliff type elevation. Problem is its high above beach with 160+ steep steps down to beach ( think joker film on steroids) or a very steep winding slope ( think san francisco). There is a golf cart to take people up and down if needed. And the guy who drives it is very helpful and friendly. ||The private hotel Beach is the best in the area, but everyone knows this. Theres no managenent of the beds for misuse and other hotel guests/ locals etc also use it. You need to go down around 7am to secure a bed/ umbrella. Sea is great and goes deep after 20 feet. ||There is no shop on the hotel grounds and nearest shop or essential services is a 30 min walk next to winding road on a dirt path or 5 min taxi (5 euros and good service) to kriopiggi You are on your own and there are no costal or other paths away from the hotel other than next to a main road. No chance for a wander..||Food is what you get for the price and our family thought is was really good value, tasty, creative and no biege food. No chips, food built from scratch and a credit to the chefs. Always fish, veg. Pork. Chicken, had lamb one day and it was fantastic. Fruit in abundance. ||Regards bars. One pool bar open from 10 to 6, then the main bar open from 6 to 12. Other than beach bar miles away, no other bars available and reception is in its own building with no air-conditioning other than reception. Pool bar guy, very good.||Local villages cater for most, closest kriopighi is great got a great selection of typical bars. Casablanca a great visit. Kalathea is very busy, very commercial and next to a few massive clubs which has hundreds ( yes hundreads) of teenagers assembled every day and worse at weekends ( think swarms of kids going in one direction) Theres a village past that called aythos ( i think) brilliant day/ night out very Greek, great bars and very traditional 👍 ||Apologies if this is sounding too negative but it was a good holiday overall, but that was down to he company and Greece being Greece, they are great people and very welcoming. but too many issues with hotel to say we'd go back. Shame as it could be a great...
