Rooms are really good, quite large with lots of space. Kitchen section is rather small, but good thing is that included small stove which was useful for our morning coffee in the room. Beds, linings, everything seemed appropriate, not too old but in really good shape. TV was small, but with a HDMI input which I found really useful. Aircon is good, you don't have limitation on how often you use it. Bad thing about the room is the bathroom. Really small, cramped and hardly for one person to take a shower. And the age of the hotel can be really seen here. It's not that bad and it's not something that will disturb your stay, but it's something of a letdown for the whole stay in Chrousso.
Garden is probably the best part of the hotel. You pass through the lawn and garden to get to any part of the hotel. You have a paved paths and the lawn is regularly maintained. You can see lots of lemons, oranges, cactuses, grapes, palms, everything is here. It really leaves an impression. However, this also invites bees ans wasps, but we didn't have more than one wasp in our room.
Hotel has 4 pools, two big ones and two small for the kids. All of them are great and you can really enjoy your stay. You have two pool bars, three kids playgrounds (one small and two mid-sized), mini disco, inflatable castle, table tennis, tennis court, paintball just across the hotel. So, you can find everything that your kids can play and enjoy. Mini disco and the annimation team were great. People really enjoy their work and are passionate. They work not only with kids, but also with older people on the beach, Zumba for instance.
Lunch and dinner are probably the best things, whilst the breakfast is quite repetative. Juices and coffees are quite ok, juices are really ok to be honest. Last year in one hotel they were undrinkable, yet here they were really good. Breakfast was as I mentined repetitive - boiled or scrambled eggs, sausages (all sorts), margarine, salads, bologna, honey, marmelade, puffed pastries, etc. They also have all sorts of corn flakes, different offerings for the bread, but as I say - it's nearly the same. Lunch and dinner were different. for 11 days we had bbq, chicken, pork, turkey, veal, lamb, rabbit... That's 6 different meats for 11 days, which is great. However, the choice of fish is small which I don't get why. This is a hotel on a seaside, one would expect to have different type of fish each day, and we had two types of fish only. Salads are also great but somewhat repetitive also. The choice of soups and fruit is really small, we only had one choice of soup for a lunch and watermellon, mellon and say peach for fruit.
The biggest surprise was the beach. Sandy, and with lovely water. Probably the best thing for this hotel. It is some 500m away from the hotel, so you can travel by car if you want (which we did) but you can also go through the woods. It's great, though there are some large stone blocks inthe sand which you can find in the shallow water. Daily we were charged 3 euros for the sunbeds and umbrella without the need to buy anything. The closes beach to the right (that has some shades and a better beach bar) was 3 to 4 times expensive, but really without any reason. But let me tell you - the beach is the best thing for this hotel, whether you have...
Read moreWe spent an all inclusive week in the hotel with Jet 2 in August. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable with a balcony overlooking the pool. We think we were lucky with our room allocation as we wouldn’t have wanted to have been in the basement rooms which looked dingy and uninviting. ||The main pool was perfect, a great size and felt safe for our 3 young children. There was always lifeguard visible too. The pool bar was ideally placed although bar snacks weren’t as freely available as we might have expected- you had to ask for them and there wasn’t a menu to explain what they were. There was a good variety of drinks, I highly recommend the iced coffee, fizzy soft drinks did taste cheap. The ‘cocktail of the day’ wasn’t what I’d describe as a cocktail, basically a couple of spirits and a mixer but they generally tasted ok! ||We felt there was a good variety of food for adults and kids but the layout could do with some thought. The children’s section was a nice touch with easily accessible options for all at lunch and dinner. The pasta and sauces were very popular but unfortunately positioned with the rest of the hot food which meant big queues formed as we waited for children to faff about loading their plates, this got a bit tiresome. Similarly, the pastries at breakfast caused the same issues and could do with repositioning. The restaurant itself had plenty of tables, felt clean and welcoming and there were plenty of staff on hand. We’d advise eating early to minimise time waiting in queues. ||Our children were very excited to attend the mini disco after a fab experience in Majorca the previous year. Unfortunately, it was located in the amphitheatre, quite a way from the bar and the main entertaining area. It felt a little shambolic with the entertainment on offer- musical chairs went on forever and the one evening we turned up to be told they were having a ghost walk at about 9:00, this was disappointing as there’s been no previous communication about it and our children were too young and tired to take part. That being said the staff seemed lovely and enthusiastic, perhaps just a little more thought and planning would be beneficial.||We weren’t aware that you need to book the shuttle bus to Pfekouri and it’s a shame there’s only one journey there and back in the daytime. The driver did manage to squeeze us on which we appreciated but due to the time it came back we felt we were hanging around for quite some time. Not really a shuttle bus. |The beach was walkable but busy and we would recommend reserving beach beds at one of the bars before you visit. The hotel seemed hesitant to do this for us which we found strange. Almost like they didn’t want us to leave the resort. That said once we had arranged and arrived at the beach bar it was brilliant, we got beds right on the front with table service, lovely food options for adults and children. If you’re willing to spend a little money we highly recommend. |||We did have a really lovely stay, and the comments we’ve made are hopefully constructive and not too negative. Just a few tweaks and it could be fabulous and perhaps more...
Read moreFirstly, I have to say, I really liked the place. The gardens were beautiful, the location was wonderful, A fantastic beach less than 10 minutes walk away, one of the best in Greece apparently. Very much a family friendly hotel, nice pools, lots for kids to do, and childrens entertainment. The staff were lovely, welcoming and friendly, even when the language barrier was sometimes a bit of a problem, there was always someone else there to help. However, our room, 307 was, at best, terrible. The bathroom was disgusting, the silly effort they called a shower curtain, was awful, there was mould in the shower, rust on the metal parts, we have taken photos to show LoveHolidays, as this was the only real thing that spoiled our holiday, the room itself was adequate enough apart from bed and bathroom. The bed was like sleeping on concrete, we asked for a mattress topper, this is one instance where the language barrier was a problem, as they had no idea what a mattress topper was, they did come through in the end, they called them extra mattresses, which got delivered promptly, fair play to them. There was no option to be relocated as hotel was full, apparently. So we had to make do. We wasn't all- inclusive, just half board, which I consider a lucky escape. The food wasn't terrible, a bit samey samey, but I understand when catering for many people with many different tastes you have to stay pretty basic. No way I could have had 3 meals a day there though. Had some beef dish one evening, made me quite ill, so after that I was a bit wary of what I ate. Interestingly enough, though the hotel markets itself as a family place, there is no childrens dishes. The free minbus to the next town, Pefkohori is a nice touch by the hotel, not the most exciting place in Halkidiki, but gets you out for a few hours. We chose to get a taxi one night to Hanioti, just a few miles on from Pefkohori, but a million miles better, just 20 Euros each way, but a great evening out. Most people on all- inclusive don't tend to do things like that as they would rather sit at the hotel, night after night, getting drunk and watching the " entertainment " the hotel puts on twice a week. Each to their own I suppose. So, to sum up, they have some really lovely rooms at this hotel, I must point out in fairness, around the entrance and pool areas, just seems the shabby block at the complete rear of the complex is reserved for half-board British, as this is what our block comprised of. Happy to be corrected if the hotel wish to comment. Anyway, to carry on summing up, the grounds, the staff, the beach, the whole area are all wonderful, but to answer the question of whether or not I would come back, the answer is a resounding NO !! The answer is not entirely based on my hotel experience, but also due to the fact, there is nothing to do, see or walk anywhere outside of the hotel, too remote for me personally, you have to hire a car or take a cab to any kind of civilisation. Hope this review...
