We booked this hotel mainly based on the great reviews we had read on TripAdvisor. Unfortunately the place did not live up to our expectations.||Every review we read commented on the amazing customer service. However, we felt quite the opposite during our stay. Our first night we were placed in a dingy room facing the road despite paying extra for a sea view. We were told we had been “upgraded…?” What transpired was our room had been double booked/someone had been upgraded meaning the room was occupied and they weren’t checking out until the following day. Not a great start after a full day of travelling and a late arrival. ||This set a tone for the rest of the holiday. We felt anxious asking for anything as during the day there were 2 staff working (max!) |The young lad who worked evenings did his best to accommodate any needs however the lady working the day shift was very unapproachable. We ordered cocktails from the bar and every occasion it took 45 mins on average to arrive. The hotel does not have a kitchen, so if you order hot food expect to wait at least 60 minutes for it to be made at the sister hotel down the road and then delivered via a man on a moped. The first meal we had was lovely, however the second meal we had came so late that the food was actually cold (congealed cheese) and unfortunately we found several hairs!! They offered to replace the food with a fresh order but we didn’t really have an extra hour to sit around and wait for it.|I ordered a piña colada off the menu on the first day to be told they did not have the correct ingredients for it. I thought that’s okay, these things happen and the lady said she would make sure they had them in the next day. I asked for the same drink the following day to be told they still did not have the ingredients. It might not seem like a massive problem. However, when you have saved hard and spent a lot of money on a holiday you would expect to be able to order the drink that you would like at least on one day.||On our last day, we asked if we could check out a little bit later because our flight was not until late in the evening. We were on holiday during the massive heat wave so we were worrying about how we could use the pool throughout the day without access to a shower afterwards. They allowed us one extra hour in our room due to it being booked up after (which is understandable.) However as we were finishing up with that hour, the lady who worked the dayshift was knocking on the door asking when were we leaving as she wanted to get the room clean. I didn’t understand why we would be allowed to stay a little bit extra if they needed the room. It just caused unnecessary stress! We then spent the entire day by the pool and asked very politely if we could please have some towels so we could shower at the pool shower before our transfer pick up. We were given the towels but told we could not walk through the hotel reception because we might get the floor wet. At this point, I was getting very exasperated as I thought how am I meant to get changed when the pool is surrounded by other couples?! All I wanted to do was walk across to the toilet to get changed in private. He eventually allowed us to go into the toilet but whilst we were getting changed the young lad was knocking on the door to take our towels off of us because he wanted to put them in the wash??!! It was very stressful.|.|Such a shame as the hotel itself was beautiful, the rooms exceptionally clean and the views were stunning. The walk down to the private beach is quite treacherous and I can imagine for someone older or with less mobility it could be quite problematic.||The breakfast, which is included was lovely however expect to get there on opening as we found that the food is not always replaced throughout the breakfast sitting so if we got there a bit later we were very limited with what we could eat. ||The location was good. €5 one way for a taxi into town (I wouldn’t say you could walk it as mainly main roads.) Afitos was beautiful!! Plenty of bars, restaurants, shops and a reasonable supermarket as well as lovely people. ||Overall, the hotel was massively let down by the customer service and logistics of how they worked things. We left feeling disheartened as we would’ve loved to make it a regular place to stay. However, we will absolutely be passing that option up...
Read moreWe are a couple late forties no children from the UK who stayed here in August 25. |There is a lot you may not be aware of after reading other reviews. |A beautiful small quiet hotel set in gardens with a small shallow pool roughly 5m X 5m and 12 sunbeds. You will always get a sunbed, there were not many people around the pool during the day. Bring your own towel or you will have to pay for them. |A continental breakfast was included from 9-11 with a choice of fried or scrambled egg, no bacon or sausage. You could always find something to eat. |The reception is open from 8am - 9pm, You can get alcoholic drinks and coffee between those times and certain food, burgers can take an hour as they are made at the sister hotel as this hotel has a limited kitchen. After reception closes at 9 there is nobody around only an emergency number. The woman who owns it is very kind and friendly and will help you order taxis etc. |There is a private beach down a steep slope and steps at the rear of the hotel, 5 minutes to get down. It was very small, a bit dirty and full of rubbish, not really the best. |Do not listen to other reviews you cannot walk into Afytos along the road. As you come out of the hotel it is onto a main road with no pavement. For 800 yards you are playing chicken with cars at speed until you reach a fork to afytos even then it's dangerous. If you wanted to it's a 25 minute walk but it's far too dangerous, deadly of a night. 7 euros in the taxi to get into the village. |The rooms have a free safe, fridge, kettle, air con, hair dryer, TV, free WiFi, although there is not enough surfaces, no chest of drawers to put things on top of or in. |Afatyos beach the sunbeds are €40 and you have to eat at their restaurant or they charge you another €10. |Kalithea beach is very crowded full of beach bars. €30 for a bed, if you eat €30 of food then beds are free. |The best beach was the one at the white suites. €30 for two. Very beautiful and quiet. |This hotel is branded a retreat as you are very isolated if you don't hire a car you will have to take 4 taxis a day to get to the beach and back and restaurants of a night like we did. The reception shuts at 9. There is no supermarket. It is extremely quiet. If that is what you are after then this is the hotel for you, we would come back to afatyos...
Read moreNever visited the Elies 33 previously but always like small, quiet places, and this fitted the bill perfectly. This adults only hotel offers everything you need for a relaxing break, located 10 mins from town but easy access by taxi. The rooms are comfortable and cleaned daily, and the place is run by two lovely people, Malvina and Chryssa, two charming ladies who basically run things on a day to day basis.| A buffet breakfast is provided, which has a wide variety of choices from continental and small English ( eggs, bacon, sausage). The hotel does not have a full kitchen, but the breakfast and snacks that are available through the day are very nice and filling (pizza, salads, and sandwiches).|The pool area is quiet with plenty of beds. Most days, there were only a few people around. The pool is not massive but ideal for a cool dip and swim. Then there is the beach, which is a short walk down a steep hill, we read previous comments about this steep hill and we being 68 and 65 we a little concerned but no problem, it took us longer to go down than come up with no real problem, one thing is to go down early to get the best position as the beach is not very big, alternatively a taxi 7euros to Afitos beach which is one of the main beaches.|Of an evening, a 6 euro fare to the town and numerous restaurants are available, if you like seafood there is an abundance here.|All in all a very nice place to stay the staff all extremely pleasant only one minor comment wardrobe hanging space good but no...
