Hotel Aoos — Hotel in Konitsa Municipality

The Hotel Aoos is on the National Road at the foot of the village of Konitsa. It is a simple budget hotel efficently run by Vasso and her family. Our room was spotlessly clean though the bed was rather firm. We had a balcony overlooking the wonderful mountains. Breakfast was very good with delicious omelette, home made jams and cakes. The family made us very welcome giving us a welcome drink and a present of delicious bottled cherries when we left. We stayed here for 2 nights and wished we hadn't. The room was a good size with balcony but the situation on the main road outside the village is not attractive. The furniture hadn't been changed since 1980 at least. The bed was exceedingly hard and very uncomfortable. Neither of us got much sleep. The bedcovers were too small for the bed. The bathroom was small and the shower cubicle so small that the plastic curtain clung to you as you were showering.. The taps in the basin are so high the water splashes out of the sink. We stayed there for 1 night during August. It was very clean and walking distance to the river which was great. However the rooms didn’t provide working window nets and the answer we got when we mentioned the problem was that there are no mosquitoes - which of course is not the case in the summer at a place by the river.
