My husband and I spent a week at Mousses with our two girls aged 2.5yrs and 7 months and had a fantastic time! We booked our villa through Simpson’s but flights/hire car separately through BA as it worked out cheaper that way. A friend recommended the place based on excellent childcare facilities from 6 months (which is rare) so we jumped at the chance of a few chilled hours to ourselves and it didn’t disappoint.||||Details below (and in all honestly it probably would’ve got a 4.5 star rating from us if that’d been an option) but quick summary is that we will be back! ||||Positives:||- The childcare - of course. 4 half days and 1 evening of adult-time! Excellent clean nursery facilities with lovely English-speaking nannies. It’s the first time I’d left my baby with anyone other than family and I was a bit nervous but fears soon faded as I met the staff and also saw that there were several other young babies there. I’m still breastfeeding and was able to pop in to feed my daughter mid-session and then hand her back over!||- Kid-friendly - childcare aside, they’ve thought of everything to make your life easy (cot, bed guard, kids cutlery, high chair, toys etc)||- Perfect self-catered / catered balance - great to have self catered villas but with on site facilities and catering options if you needed - we tended to have breakfast in our villa (no catering available on site) and then lunches and dinner either offsite or in the taverna ||- The staff are amazing - in particular Panda and Olga at the bar - such lovely people and always seemed happy and willing to help. The kids loved Panda and were sad to say goodbye!||- Cleanliness - spotless facilities and great to have your room cleaned everyday which is a luxury for self catering!||- The pool - beautiful and perfect temperature. Kids pool is great too and had so many toys / inflatables in it.||- Lefkada itself we loved - felt like authentic Greece, had beautiful scenery and friendly locals. Lefkada town was fab for a sunset stroll / ice cream / dinner||||Downsides / things to consider:||- The villas themselves were pretty basic, compact, quite dark and could do with modernising ||- Please put vegetables with kids meals! My two would’ve eaten solely beige all week if we’d only eaten off the children’s menu in Mousses. Options could be a bit more exciting. ||- Sunday to Sunday arrival/departure - would be a bonus if they could introduce Saturday changeovers so you don’t land back home heading straight into a working week ||- Other than a high chair, there was nowhere we could safely put our 7 month old down in the villas …would’ve been great to have a kids mat / cushion / bean bag etc to make the hard floors safer for babies ||- Kids’ toys in the room had seen better days and could do with replacing ||- Would be useful to have more day trip / restaurant recommendations in the room - the welcome booklet was a bit dated ||||Recommendations:||- Bakery - Zesta Xefournismata There are so many bakeries in town, but this one was the best and a 2 min drive from Mousses or a 10 min walk. Absolutely delicious things for breakfast/lunch/snacks and such friendly staff. There was a café with delicious coffee two doors down (Cafe 42) where you could grab drinks from and eat your pastries outside Zesta!||- Dinner - highly recommend both dinners we had out without kids (our toddler went into movie night twice and our baby came out with us but slept in the pram) …Ta Kanioria Tavern on the waterside (amazing food and views, traditional place, about 15 mins drive, 12-15 euros each way in a taxi or an easy drive) and Restaurant Thymari (modern Greek restaurant in Lefkada town, 5 mins drive from villas)||- Beaches (on days we didn’t have childcare!)- we opted for beach clubs for the most kiddie-friendly experience. Maraboo Beach in Nidri (about 20 mins drive) was great for a drink and to dip your toes in the water - nice place and has a small park. Lovely taverna options for lunch at the nearby harbour. Also, NV beach club, Nikiana. Very nice beach and easy access into the water for kids. A bit of a showy place with Ibiza style music, and €25 for a couple of deckchairs and umbrella for a premium spot near the jetty (the kids loved jumping in!), but it was so nice we spent nearly the whole day here.||||All in all we loved our time in Lefkada and Mousses - it’s hard to rival this place for a kid-friendly option that isn’t a large...
Read moreWe are just back from a week at Mousses and I cannot recommend it highly enough. My partner was wary of holiday with our nearly 3 year old and that it would not be relaxing but he was so wrong. In abeautiful setting, we had our own villa (one of 12) there is a central restaurant/ bar which serves great food. The pool is gated and the whole complex feels completely safe for little ones to roam around. They also provide stair gates, a potty, a step, a box of toys, baby bath, literally every detail has been considered. Everyone was lovely from the owners and Panda behind the bar, to the childcare team (who were fantastic, Daisy loved the creche and 4 mornings there gave us some time to ourselves. One nght they have childcare in the evening instead of the morning so parents can go out for a child free meal. We got a taxi to nearby Lefkada Town. Less than 10 mins away which is lovely to walk around, mooch around the shops, eat and drink. The bridge was a highlight for us and for Daisy who we went back with another evening. Afternoons post nap were spent at the pool or the local beach (10 mins walk) The beach was really quiet (end of May) and we pretty much had it to ourselves. One night we packed a picnic (they provide thoughtful things like an ice box) and had our dinner on the beach at the end of the day which was lovely. All of the other guests were lovely. Everyone knew Daisy by name by the end of the week. It is the kind of place where you can socialise if you want to but if you wanted some quiet solitude you could also find that. Highly recommend this and we will...
Read moreWe travelled with our 2.5 year old and 6 month old in September. This is an amazing place for young families who are looking for something different from the large all inclusive resorts that offer childcare. Despite our concerns about holidaying with a baby and toddler we were pleasantly surprised at how relaxing and enjoyable our time at Mousses was, entirely based on the great set up and staff they have. The complex and villas are completely set up for families, with all the equipment you could need, a gated pool and great bar/taverna manned by the wonderful Panda where you can get your morning coffee, afternoon cocktails and lunches and dinners if you don't want to go out. The kids club/creche is the star of the show, expertly run by a lovely team. Our son, who is a little shy, settled quickly and enjoyed his afternoon sessions while we had a couple of hours to relax by the pool. We even managed a meal out while the kids slept/ we're entertained at the 'date night' session. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, when we travelled all the families had similar aged kids and we enjoyed chatting and having dinner with them on several evenings. We also liked that you have the flexibility to make your own meals or go out and explore the island and beaches, although we only make it out of the resort a couple of times in the week we were there!||All in all a great place with childcare facilities you would usually only get at larger hotels but in a more intimate setting- a little gem! Thank you to the entire...
