I don’t even know where to start with this place. From top to bottom, every single thing about this resort can be defined by the word “perfect”, although “perfect” seems to fail at doing it justice as well. It was like our perfect vacation was being written in a book right before our eyes with each passing moment. If you are choosing between here and a different place, you are only hurting yourself by choosing anywhere else on earth. Highlights:
TRANQUILITY: the resort houses about 16 people at max capacity, making it an ideal stay for anyone looking for a peaceful slice of heaven that creates a beautiful harmony of being quietly pampered while also feeling like some sort of secretive private home that you own in Greece. Silence can be found at all spots on the premises. If you’re looking for a get away that is not littered with people, noise, lines, etc., rest assured that Petani Bay is the place for you.
VIEWS: the pictures you see online will fail to do the luscious greenery, floral covered hotel-grounds, rolling mountains, and sky blue waters that surround the resort justice. We were astounded by the fact that it seemed like everyday, the views of this place seemed to get better and better. The sun, a light breeze, and gorgeous environment are all permanent residents here.
FOOD: I’ve never stayed at a hotel and felt guilty about going somewhere else to eat during a vacation. With the size of the resort being so small, the food is capable of being prepared with hand-selected ingredients and at a careful pace. Seriously, you can taste the love that’s included in every single dish. From breakfast to dinner, there just wasn’t a single item that was not rich in jaw-dropping flavors. George and the sweet lady that do the cooking are masters of the Greek cuisine (words that my Greek wife fully agreed with). Pure excellence.
ROOM: Very, very comfortable beds, great air conditioning, amazing showers, and quiet balconies with sublime views. Accommodations were plentiful. Not worth saying much else, as you’d be a fool to stay inside the room for very long here.
Lastly, and most importantly, the STAFF: Wow. Voula, Giannis, George, Yionna, and the 3(?) other employees were all INCREDIBLE. Such lovely people who are elated to have pleasant and fulfilling conversation with each guest, we felt like close family at all times. Of course, they embody professionalism so if conversation does not interest you, they well respect that fully and promptly by giving you space if you so wish. However, for me and my wife, we felt as though we met truly great friends and our conversations with the staff (who were knowledgeable about all things Kepholonia) contributed as highlights of our days here. They are all WONDERFUL people with great hearts who care so much about their job and...
Read moreWhat a gem of a hotel on the west coast of Kefalonia. We were looking for a small adult only place to stay and were lucky to find this lovely boutique hotel. It is a family run affair, with Voula and her husband George at the helm, and their lovely adult children George & Elena helping to provide a seamless, relaxing and happy stay. ||Nothing was too much trouble for them to organise including arranging a private speedboat trip, booking restaurants and even giving us lifts down to the stunning beach just below the hotel before we decided we needed to hire a car, which Voula kindly organised for us. ||We had a lovely small suite with breathtaking panoramic views across the bay. The room had a small kitchen area with a fridge and there was a small dining table and chairs. The bed was very comfortable (even the pillows which I’m normally very critical of|In hotels!). ||Breakfasts (included) were a delight with traditional Greek pastries, meats and cheeses available, alongside eggs, bacon, pastries and bread. Sitting on the terrace overlooking the stunning Petani Bay, eating watermelon, Greek honey &|Yoghurt has got to be one of the best ways to start the day!||The pool bar is lovely and open from|11 until 11. They serve drinks and coffees and then hot and cold food|From their “snack” menu from|13.00. They are happy to provide iced water free of charge which is a bonus, especially in very hot weather. Relaxing chill out music plays which enhances the holiday vibe. ||The only downside to the hotel is that it is built on a hill (hence the staggering views) and therefore has many stairs and steps to get to the accommodation. It wasn’t a problem for us but for one of our adult daughters, who has a disability, it did present a few challenges. However Voula was very helpful and managed to relocate the two girls to a lower level room which we were very grateful for. ||Also, the hotel is in a very quiet location with only two tavernas within walking distance (the closest one of which you would NOT want to eat at!) and two others on the lovely beach below the hotel (the one we tried was great). The beach is down a very steep hill so not really suitable for walking, especially at night so all in all it is advisable (if not essential) to hire a car. There is a secure car provided for guests above the hotel (more stairs!). ||We will definitely return - as it seems many of their guests do! A really lovely...
Read moreAmazing views and very clean, beautifully kept gardens and nice pool. Room was spacious with a kitchenette. No pans or utensils for cooking so don’t expect to self cater. Very annoying music that’s already on at breakfast really most people prefer quiet that early and to listen to nature whilst sitting outside. Not listening to plinky classical covers of modern songs, awful, it’s on all day then joined by different music coming from the bar from lunchtime. If you pick the right sunbed you can hear both simultaneously which is very annoying. We went to the wonderful beach to get away from it which was a shame as the pool was lovely, sadly it also had no shade at all. Breakfast was a buffet, lots of choice but ‘hot’ options were room temperature and pastries cold. Also staff stood around whilst you have to lay your own table and collect your own drinks. These should be pre laid and staff serve you drinks while you choose your food. Oh and don’t arrive 15 mins before breakfast stops you’ll be told off! Then asked in the loudest voice how you want your eggs, very embarrassing. This is a 3* with ideas that it’s 5* it’s not. It’s expensive for what you get compared to other b&b’s in the area. Hired staff are polite and friendly but scared of putting a foot wrong. Hotel owner is extremely loud and quite intimidating, barking instructions to the staff. Place is run like a military operation, very strict about timings, sadly this makes you feel like you’re walking on egg shells, this hotel was not for us, far too uptight. My advice …. turn off the early music, speak more discreetly to staff and guests, lay the tables for breakfast, warm up the hot options, serve tea and coffee, supply some shade for some sun-beds. Try and chill out and have a more relaxed vibe. Perhaps then you’d get the hotel your clearly aspire to own but you’re currently missing the mark. We...
