We stayed 2 adults and 3 kids, 4-14, end of August in family suite garden view, full board, for 1 week. The good: excellent food including large variety of selection, all of us enjoyed it very much. Many types of sea food fresh fish, fresh fruits, kids menu ice-cream and many types of deserts, true 5 stars value. Huge resort, many pools, very nicely decorated, jumping boards, excellent pools area for kids, our 4 years enjoyed very much, nice kids club, many tennis courts, volleyball, 2 Beach areas, we preferred the one with recreation as we did jet skiing. True 5 stars level. The animation team including hotel stuff were very warm and helpful, unfortunately they were German oriented so our kids couldn't really enjoy this positive point. Restroom were lovely spread across the resort, very clean. There were 2 restaurants, we didn't try any of them nor anyone suggested us to enroll, both cost 10 Euro per person. There were 2 amazing shows, all of us liked it very much. The other nights had kids disco and music for alders. The challenging: The suites areas were very challenging, all of them were a bit far from main recreation area, usually with few 10's of stairs, so strollers are not recommended. Still on suites, they were very outdated: cable TV no English channels which was extremely annoying for us as kids couldn't spend more then 5 minutes looking on German cartoons. The bath room was very small for 5 persons, at least a separate toilet was expected. It took us 2 hours of baths cycles when returning from the pool. The suite was very large with 2 floors, and comfortable, but closet was only on 2nd floor. Many balconies which was very helpful, see the bad why. Beds were comfortable, no major points though. Overall score for rooms is 4 out of 5, surly none 5 stars hotel. Very loud crickets at night. But it didn't bother me so much. We rented a car for all week, it is very recommended, as you can't go anywhere by foot, we did excellent trips around Crete. The bad: The air conditioning in all H area (there are 5 areas or so) were way below normal. I'm coming from a very humet and hot country, much hotter than Crete, and any minimal air condition keeps max 25 Celsius, the rooms temperature was hotter than outside, having all windows closed, blinds closed, we couldn't sleep. I went to the lobby and asked them to check, they sent a technician that didn't really do anything as it is a central system. The 3rd time I was addressed to the hotel senior assistant who went all the way to the room and confirmed its hot. He also admit there are no other available rooms and prepared me for the worst : this temperature is going to stay until the end of our stay. He offered to bring fans which we appriciated, but there were not enough sockets 2 down and 1 upstairs, both sockets on lower floor were occupied by lamps, so we needed to decide: either light, mobile charger or fans. On one of the nights we needed to go to sleep with windows open as it was much cooler outside than inside. Also during noon. The assistant wanted us to call him later when fans were brought in, but I told him the room's phones are not working, they never got fixed. On our last day it started raining, so last day there was no Wi-Fi, guess when you have old infrastructure rain can cause problems. Overall it is a decent hotel, we will never come back, guess you can figure why.

This is a fabulous resort providing a true experience to remember. My husband and I have just completed a marvellously last minute holiday here at the Kalimera Kriti and we will be back. The summer in the UK was basically non existent this year and we desperately needed some sunshine and warmth. Upon arrival at around midnight we were greeted with sandwiches and smiles by reception. We were then whisked to our room in a golf cart. And what a wonderful surprise. We had a sea view upstairs bungalow which provided us with a sitting room and large bedroom, and a beautiful view of our small bay from the windows in the bedroom and sitting room. The room itself was comfortably furnished and has a home feel to it. The balcony is large with two lounge chairs and a table and chairs. There was air conditioning in the bedroom which we found was sufficient based on the wonderful seafront breezes and view. All of the staff from our lovely maid to the waitpersons in the restaurant to the beach staff were wonderful. They always greeted us with a friendly kalimera or kalisphera. Good day or good evening. Last year when we were in Crete at at 5 star hotel the beach was apauling and we had to rent a car and drive to a suitable beach. Here at kalimera Kriti the beach is perfect. As the resort sits on a natural bay that has had a small jetty put in to protect it, the water is calm. Admiditly you do have to walk out a ways to reach deeper water but it is very suitable to young children and older adults. There are loads of beach loungers. Yet even when busythe longest wait time was 5 minutes for a chairs. There is basic food and drinks available from a small beach cafe. They do have 3 wonderful pools but we never used them as we preferred to swim in the warm sea. We were half board. The food provided was perfect. Loads of Greek dishes and fresh wonderful fruit and vegetables. One night they put on a Greek BBQ with live entertainment that was wonderful. At the Aego Spa Eva arranged some wonderful treatments for my husband and I. Chrysa had a wonderful sense of touch and knew the areas that needed the most attention in my treatment. The location is everything with Kalimera Kriti and if we could we would stay here for a month at a time.

God knows how much I wanted to review this hotel positively. I’m giving it 2 points for the food and hotel grounds. It’s not bad at all. BUT, we’re here for 2 days now and I can tell you it had better days. Much better days. How do I know? I’ve been here once before, about 6 years ago. These days the rooms are just terrible and the service just as bad. We are a family of 14 and booked 6 rooms here, to our things in perspective - we’re paying what about a quarter of a house in Greece would cost us, for 5 nights. We arrived at our rooms yesterday afternoon and immediately noticed our air condition unit isn’t cooling one of the rooms and the toilet doesn’t flush in another. Immediately we called reception (takes about 5 tries until you get someone) and complained. I’ll make it short for you - the toilets I had to fix myself. As for the air conditioning… well, we asked for someone to come fix it, but apparently technicians aren’t available after 15:00… fine, we asked for another room and guess what? ā€œWe’re fully booked!ā€ And so they sent a ventilator. The next day they claimed a technician came (we didn’t notice one) and said all is fine. Room is 27c… At that point we got really upset and went back to reception, again they said ā€œno rooms left, fully booked, please wait for the morningā€. Well I went online and guess what? The hotel isn’t fully booked, they offer a lot of rooms online for instant booking. So I went back to the reception and asked why lie? For almost 20k euro do I not deserve the honest truth? Then they said - well, the rooms aren’t ready. I’m reminding you this is day 2 here… they had 36 hours since initial request to switch to a room with proper air conditioning. So now we have evacuated that room as it is not possible to sleep there and all sleep on mattresses on the floor of a 2 person room. Somehow though they did manage to prepare mattresses on the floor of one of our rooms yet couldn’t prepare an alternative room in 36 hours. We are traveling every year, we always find good and bad, nothing is perfect and we do not expect it to be. However, if you’re going to spend a lot of money on your one family vacation, I’d suggest you do it somewhere else. You deserve better.

Our third recent trip to Kalimera Kriti Hotel & Village Resort turned out to be extremely traumatic for my son and I. Half way through our two week stay my son scalded his foot from the mixer tap in the bathroom causing extreme burns to his foot. The hotel hot water leaves the taps at 80 degrees celsius. This is incredibly dangerous. I understand that water held in a tank is normally held at high temperature to combat legionella, however when the hot water is then used in taps and showers it goes through a process of an anti-scald device. These devices are safety products that limit the maximum water temperature or reduce flow at high temperatures to prevent burns from hot water in showers, taps, and other outlets. They are crucial in homes, care facilities, and public restrooms, especially for the elderly, young children, and others with thin skin or physical challenges. Devices include simple outlet-mounted restrictors that limit flow, and thermostatic mixing valves that regulate the temperature at the point of use or within the entire system. These devices are not just limited to the UK but are essential around the world and are an essential item in all hotels and something that you would expect in a five start hotel. When the scald happened I follow the recommended procedure of running cold water over the foot for twenty minutes. The hotel doesn't have any qualified medical staff or even a medical point for advice and information or book to record the event. Luckily we befriended a hotel guest who was a doctor. He gave us great advice and help. When attending the wellness centre the staff observed my sons wounds gave no advice or help only plasters. Eventually I spoke with the hotels customer relations manager. I feedback our experience. She instantly denied that there was a problem with the hot water in the hotel. Infact she sent an engineer to test the hot water leaving the tap, who reported back that it was flowing at 80 degrees celsius. The customer relations manager said to me that this is fine and acceptable. For general use: A maximum temperature of 49°C (120°F) is recommended for tap water to reduce the risk of scalds. The doctors wife also informed the customer service manager that when her husband was showering if she turned the taps to use the water it would scald her husband. This proves that it's not an isolated incident. I was appalled by the lack of empathy for my son. We were treated incredibly badly and with complete and utter contempt. I was absolutely astounded and did not expect to be treated in this way. Not the service you come to expect from a five star hotel. I was told that a doctor would be at the Hotel the next day. The doctor did not turn up, we waited forty minutes, nothing was said to us even though the staff knew that we were waiting to see the doctor. Shockingly bad customer service. My son endured on our return to the UK a hospital trip to accident and emergency. Where he had a procedure involvingnitrous oxide and oxygen used as a pain reliever, used in child birth. Then three appointment to the burns unit. This whole event has been traumatic, made even worse by the management of the hotel. This temerature could be fatal to a baby or an elderly guest. Hot water can burn skin, with the speed and severity of the burn depending on the water's temperature; for example, at 70°C (158°F), a burn can occur in one second, while at 55°C (131°F), it may take 10 seconds, and at 50°C (122°F), it could take five minutes. To prevent scalds, it's recommended to set your home's water heater to 49°C (120°F) or lower. Thanks to Lukas & Christina for great advice, help and support. The hotel is incredibly picturesque, in tranquil surroundings. On our first two trips I could recommend highly enough, however all I would recommend if you visit Kalimera Kriti Hotel & Village Resort is be increbilbly mindful regarding the hot water. Don't expect staff to help if you get sick. There is no designated medical point, first aid kit and trained staff. Hopefully this...

We have just spent a week at this hotel. Firstly all the staff and all the Greek we met were so incredibly friendly and kind I’ll never go back to Spain I’ll always come to Greece! Our flight out was delayed meaning by the time we arrived at the hotel their restaurant was closed however they had plates of sandwiches and crisps ready for us with bottled water this was very much appreciated nowhere we have ever stayed has done this before and I wished they did! Our first day was spent trying to get our bearings of the place but this was difficult because it’s a huge place and there are no sign posts directing where things are or what they are it’s not clear which is the pool bar/beech bar as they’re literally next to each other! We never found the Thalassa bar! There are lots of sports activities but to find the information to book was hard we asked the owner of the sports shop opposite the tennis and football pitch and not even he could tell us how to book some of them so the hotel really needs to do better here. |We found the closing of the pool and bars at 6pm very strange the sun was still shining and hot at this time to close the main activity everyone wanted at 6 along with where to get drinks and snacks a massive disappointment but of course this is geared for all guests to use the only restaurant open which is the main hotel one and a mass catering buffet style place which I don’t like these. This meant everyone went there every night we tried it but it’s not a relaxing environment it’s full of people barging you out the way snatching things, kids not looking where they’re going and adults knocking into you! I had to queue TWICE to get a plate I waited 15 minutes!! I was barged out the way by the Germans on my first time queuing they did this often in the shops as well they were so rude, the resort is geared up to the Germans and they knew this and felt entitled to be rude. The food seen as its mass produced was ok but struggling to find a table then waiting for plates then waiting for food to be replenished was far from relaxing! It’s also expensive for what we wanted which was a light meal it was 30 euros each which as I only could get a feta salad as all the hot food was gone is expensive our son was only able to get one tiny slice of pizza the rest all being snatched whilst he was trying to serve himself! We went out to eat in Sissi we would strongly recommend you do this instead the people and food are lovely especially Oliva’s Steakhouse! |The other thing I want noted is the spa, we went there to book some treatments for me whilst the boys played sports, the lady Mattera? Explained the treatments and let me test some products as I have sensitive skin, I booked three treatments at a whopping cost of 430 euros that’s with a discount! I had booked two at 2 hours and one at 1 hour. My first visit I was kept waiting for 15 mins, when you’re told to arrive 5 minutes early! After the treatment you’re asked to fill out a questionnaire they then stand over you whilst you do this which is intimidating, at no point did my sessions last for the time I booked! The last one I booked was the Cretan Massage it was supposed to be for 70 minutes I arrived at 5:30 you have to undress etc and I was out the spa by 6:20!! So I didn’t even get an hour never mind the 70 minutes we had paid a lot of money for! After each treatment they try to get you to spend more money by telling you you need this treatment or skin product it felt the 430 euros we spent wasn’t enough for them! After the second treatment they again said I needed the anti aging facial! I said I had wanted that one when I was booking but the therapist advised against it as I had sensitive skin the therapist didn’t seem pleased I wasn’t buying! Overall a nice place but a lot needs to be done to improve upon it and make it excellent given it’s not a cheap...

I am going to write an honest review and be objective and non-bias as possible. Don't believe all the good reviews you read on here because many of them are bias, especially the good ones and how good the masseuse was (probably written by the masseuses themselves in order to increase the bookings for a massage in the spa). The tennis center right by the hotel is owned by Germans who work there so they are also probably the ones who keep adding good reviews about the hotel. Always look and pay extra attention to negative reviews.|First, Crete is way, way, overrated. From my experience the inhabitants of the island don't understand English well enough, and they are not service-oriented. All the beaches and most of the hotels are very mediocre. My previous vacation in Antalya, Turkey, was much better .|Relative to other hotels in Crete, Kalimera Kriti hotel has many advantages and it is one of the better hotels you are going to find in Crete, because it is a small, isolated hotel on a very large area, with a nice private beach, and nice view of the mountains. There is also a very big tennis center, with many clay courts that are well maintained, and some artificial grass courts. |They put me in Room H-109 the first few nights, but it was very noisy. The rooms in general are badly insulated in terms of acoustics. I could hardly sleep at night and there are also no blackout curtains. The white coating in the bathtub itself was peeling off and produced sharp scrapes , so I asked for a room change. It took them 2 nights to change me to another room. They transferred me to room M-34 which has no Wi-Fi reception, and even though I complained that there is no Wi-Fi at all in my room they never fixed it. I wasn't trying to be a "KAREN" but there were some serious issues with the rooms, but they refused to let me speak with the manager, so good luck with that…|The food was generally good- especially the breads, the baked-on-the-spot individual pizzas, and the desserts. I suspect that some of the fish and seafood were previously frozen and not fresh, because the octopus was too salty and so were the striped red mullets. Some of the shrimps may had been frozen shrimps that come from Southeast Asia (China/Vietnam) and not from the Mediterranean. I was there 5 nights, and unfortunately, they had carvery roast beef on only 1 night. I didn't eat the soups, even though I love soups, because they seemed to be made from recycled meat and/or vegetables from last night's dinner. The milk in breakfast was the ULTRA-pasteurized processed kind that has a shelf life of like 4 months so I didn't touch it even though I love a glass or two of fresh milk in the morning.|Almost all the guests in the hotel were Germans, which is plus, because Germans are generally polite and quiet. They rely on that their German guests recommend to other Germans about the hotel, so if you are not German, the hotel staff may treat you as a second-class (Grade B) guest, so beware of that. Council tax in the hotel is 15 Euros per night, and you must buy bottled water because there are no standing water dispensers or electric water coolers, at all. Booking a tennis court or even going to the gym is with a charge. They have a very big and long swimming pool, but it has no lanes or dark blue marking on its bottom floor, so one cannot swim laps in an adequate way, which is a shame, because I brought all my swimming gear...
