Eligia Villas — Hotel in Municipality of Agios Vasileios

We have just spent two weeks in one of the villas and had a fantastic time! The host, Lena, is very welcoming and goes out of her way to make sure you are comfortable and have everything you need, while at the same time allowing you privacy; she provided welcome food as well as fruit and vegetables from her garden, bread, olive oil and oregano picked in the mountains; her husband helped us when our car wouldn't start and she was ready with fresh towels whenever we needed them! The pool is great too, as are the well-kept gardens which are full of beautiful butterflies and bats in the evening - our children loved them both. It is very secure too, with an automatic gate to close. There are 3 bedrooms - one downstairs next to the bathroom with the shower and two upstairs with the bathroom with a bath. The villa is situated 1km from a bakery and shop and 4km from Spili which has supermarkets, shops and restaurants. The only downside is that it sits quite near the main road so you do get a bit of traffic noise, but we only noticed this in the evenings. The south coast is much quieter than the north coast and lots of Greek holiday-makers come here too which is nice. The countryside surrounding the villa is beautiful with mountains close by and beaches only a 20 minute drive; the town of Plakias is nice to visit and the beaches around there are lovely - we liked Damnoni best because of the tavernas, its size and gentle slope into the sea. My husband was able to go diving (dive school in Plakias) and snorkel too. The lovely town of Rethymnon is about 25 minutes away too which is an added bonus. We remained one week in early april when flowers are at their blossom peak.||Eleni is a great host and very welcoming. The villa is very well organised, the bedrooms are spacious and decorated with style. They're shelfs spaces everywhere and the beds are cosy. We slept like angels. You can find shops nearby in Mixorouma (even by walk) or Spili at 5mn. The villas are located in a rural environment just 40mn from the lybian sea and the south cost (Preveli, Ligres, Plakias, Ag.Galini, etc) , 45mn from Chania airport and 35mn from Rethymnon.||If you like flowers and orchids, Spili hills, 20mn from the villas, are a heaven.||||We really enjoyed the rent and can only recommand you these villas, the pool and the gardens. Le site magnifiquement paysagé accueille deux superbes villas, une piscine creusée entourée de chaises longues et de parasols, un grand BBQ aux charbons de bois et plus encore. Le terrain est grand, bien entretenu et également très privé puisqu'il est encadré de magnifiques murs en pierre. Pour y accéder ou pour garer la voiture, on doit ouvrir une grille électrique. Le soir avec les lumières un peu partout sur le terrain, c'est génial. Bref, on a l'impression d'être des gens riches et célèbres! ;-)||||La villa est belle et fonctionnelle. Elle accueille aisément six personnes. Pour notre part, nous étions sept adultes et nous y avons été très confortables pendant une semaine complète. Ma fille couchait dans le salon sur un lit d'appoint, mais elle a très bien dormi. La Crète est très grande, il est donc essentiel d'avoir une voiture. Il ne faut pas négliger non plus les distances à parcourir, car elles peuvent parfois être assez longues dans ces petites routes sinueuses, surtout à la noirceur! Eligia Villas est à seulement trois kilomètres du petit village de Spili (nous avons adoré cet endroit), à environ 1 h 40 d'Héraklion et 40 minutes de Rethymnon. À notre avis, le confort de la villa vaut sans aucun doute la durée des déplacements||||En terminant, que dire de l'accueil extraordinaire de Lena, la propriétaire de Eligia Villas. À notre arrivée à 23 h, elle nous attendait au bord de la route afin qu'on ne manque pas l'entrée de la maison. Elle nous avait préparé un petit goûter avec du raki (boisson locale). De plus, elle et son mari nous ont également préparé un BBQ typiquement crétois pendant la semaine. Sa famille et des amis s'étaient joints à nous, de même que les invités de l'autre villa. Il y avait de la nourriture pour une armée! Le repas était délicieux et les gens très sympatiques. Nous sommes aussi allés au petit café de Lena à Spili (Spili Café). Encore là, nous y avons été reçus comme des rois. Lena a toujours de petites attentions pour ses invités.
