Konaki Apartments Kerames — Hotel in Municipality of Agios Vasileios

We spent there winter holidays, it is a really nice quiet place away from everything, if that's what you are looking for. All in all, I would go back for sure if I felt like going back to a place (instead of exploring new places). No cars, all you hear is just the sea. You can have long beach walks, amazing beaches to explore and climb on the rocks, warm to swim even in winter, it's quite warm, sometimes hot during the day, but manageable. Almost no people in that season. Lots of garbage thrown out by the sea, collecting it kept us busy for 3 weeks :D (but that's not the fault of the area, everything comes from the sea, all the time, I saw other people doing the same as we did, never leave home without a trash bag). The kids loved the cats, that was their highlight of the holidays. The price was really good, and yes it's all self-service (I see someone complained in the comments), it's more like renting an apartment, not a hotel, that worked perfectly for us. Best to do shopping for all necessities when driving from the airport (including all the food as much as possible), the nearby shop is very small, no choice there. The apartment itself is nice and fresh, quite small, but with the terrace it was totally ok for our family of 4. On hot days it is very nice to relax in the terrace, the kids are busy playing with the cats, it's actually possible to read a book of your own :) One can do smaller hikes (long enough if you are with kids) in the area, but for most of them expect at least 30 mins driving there - except the local beach walk of course, which is just outside the door.

Some downsides that were not a big thing but good to know: the bedroom has no windows, and it gets warm. We didn't spend much time there except sleeping so it was ok. One can keep the terrace doors open with the bug net closed. The double bed is quite small, if a kid (or 2) get in, becomes very much too tight. even if it looks close on the map, everything is very far away, the roads are small and slow. All the restaurants nearby are closed in winer. If you are ok driving to Spili for 35 minutes over the mountain roads with magnificent views, then there you can get really good really cheap local food, too bad everyone is smoking indoors and outdoors in the restaurants. no vacuum cleaner, though I understand why (sand). it was however quite a challenge to keep the floor clean from sand and other dirt as we were coming in and out a lot. the internet connection is slow. Luckily I decided not to work (which I had considered) but take those weeks off. Would have been...

True paradise. The views and the sounds of the sea can be seen and heard from the inside of the apartment, the large terrace for outdoor lunch/dinners and sunbathing, the garden, the breathtaking coastline, the remoteness of the place, the peacefulness and the tranquility. A perfect place for those who love the nature, swimming, hiking, escaping from the people and the noise. We had very sunny weather, a still warm sea (17C) and beautiful sunsets from the window in December and January during 6 weeks of our stay there.

The best part is that the house is very well maintained, looks like new although it is more than 10 years old, and it is built based on the western standards with the great insulation, central heating, drinkable water, toilet-paper flushable toilet, etc. (all these things are very rare in Greece). The furnishings are Scandinavian style, it has a full kitchen with high-end appliances (and a Whirlpool washing machine in the bathroom), as if it is built for the family rather than the tourists. The owners Thorkil and his wife were very friendly and we also made friends with the gardener Giannis who was very kind to us.

We travelled and stayed in many countries and places in the last 3 years and staying at Konaki was one of the best, if not the best, experiences that...

Уголок на карте Крита. Прекрасное место, хорошие апартаменты. Волшебная атмосфера, если не обращать внимание на минусы в быту. Для апартаментов такого уровня, экономия на всем, нет мешков для мусора, посудомоечная машина для вида, так как нет моющего средства, администратор сказал что все надо покупать самим, нет лицевых салфеток на кухне, постирать в стиральной машине не получится если вы не купили средство для стирки, вечером ходит садовник, нарушая атмосферу уеденения. Если вы устали с дорогиги, то здесь вас не ждёт приветственный кофе, бутылка воды в холодильнике, и прочее что есть в других местах, за меньшую стоимость. В душевой не полки для шампуня и принадлежностей, приходится ставить все на пол, для зубных щеток пришлось использовать бокал с кухни. В первый день прибывания семейный ужин был омрачен, приходом алминистратора с электриком в грязной обуви, которые ремонтировали целый час одну лампу. Если вы решите ь утром выпить кофе, будте остарожы, электрический чайник очень громкий. Круглые сутки дует сильный ветер, но тёплый. Случайность это, или закономерность, не знаю, но точно знаю что в многих местах где мы побывали на Крите, о быте даже не вспоминаешь. Есть местный кот, который приносит мышей и сьедает их на половину, мои дети были в ужасе. Может это и хорошо, но есть другие средства для борьбы с грызунами. Осталось два дня, надеюсь что дальше будет только хорошо.

Утром пришла домработница, решила часть проблем..... Жизнь...
