Fourfouras Cottage — Hotel in Municipality of Amari

We chose to spend a few days in Fourfouras Cottage during our vacation in Rethymno area, and this was the most surprising part of our journey: a tastefully renovated traditional cretan house with a carefully curated herbs and flowers' garden, and modern comfy furnishings contrasting pleasantly the most traditional elements of the house. We loved having our breakfast in the patio, breathing the fresh air, as well as a glass of local wine in the terrace, surrounded by the stunning views of the mount Psiloritis and the village. The house is very well decorated and equipped, is new and cozy. The balcony has a beautiful view of the mountains and the surrounding area. The host is very helpful and answers every question (although we have not met in person). Great place if you want to live outside the crowded resorts, if you want to experience the Greek countryside and local culture. I recommend to visit the local tavernas and stores. An absolute gem hidden behind old-fashioned plaster walls and metal doors. Open the doors, and you will see beautiful landscaping and a kitchen and several bedrooms scattered in individual small buildings around the garden. All rooms have comfortable modern appointments.
