Alexandra — Hotel in Municipality of Angistri

This is a great place to stay for a relaxing break in Scala, on one of the prettiest of the Saronic Islands - Agistri. Tasoula and her mother Alexandra could not be more welcoming. Tasoula works incredibly hard to make your stay special. Always smiling, always very willing to help in any way she can. Our room was very modern, bright, airy and absolutely spotlessly clean. It was serviced every day, which I wasn't expecting. This is no accident, but instead a consequence of very good management by Tasoula. She gets the best from her staff and this is evident in the high standards maintained in this hotel. Everything in the room functioned as it should - no broken lights, taps, shower-heads, toilet seats - everything was absolutely spot-on, including the air conditioning, multiple lighting arrangements, TV and in-room safe. It was a surprisingly high specification and I do not understand why it is "only" a 2-star hotel - it is WAY better than its rating. The pool area is good, the pool itself clean and everywhere tidy. There are toilet and changing facilities on a lower level, all of which are clean and well maintained. There are some loungers with parasols, about 4 in total, but these were seldom used, so no issues with getting a seat around the pool if required. There is a double "bed" arrangement where you can get out of the intense sun if needed. There are some rooms with balcony around the pool, at 2 levels and there are rooms in the main hotel, with a balcony with sea view. both have their merits and I thought the rooms around the pool were in a good location, not a "second-choice" by any means. We would have been happy with either type of room. I think most people tend to use the beach area directly in front of the hotel for lazing around and relaxing. It has about 20 dedicated very comfortable sun-loungers, with parasols, dedicated for the use of Hotel Alexandra clients. The beach is gently sloping and very safe, mostly sand, but with a few rocky areas in places. No difficulty getting in and out of the water and the swimming is good. The restaurant area overlooks the beach and sea front. It is functional rather than characterful, but the food is excellent and freshly prepared. It's good Greek cuisine and some of the best we sampled during our 2.5 weeks touring Athens and the Saronic Gulf Islands. Just ask Tasoula what is best, fresh and special that day and she will delight in describing it to you and how it's prepared. Service is good, food is good and prices are very reasonable. We found only one other place in Skala that was on a par, but was a bit of a walk, not in the touristy "new" area of Skala. There were many restaurants in "new" Skala to visit, but none of them seemed to confer any advantage over the cuisine to be enjoyed at the Alexandra. It was notable that quite a few Greek people eat at the Alexandra, both at lunchtime and in the evening. Overall, we had a really good experience at this hotel and would certainly go back again if we were visiting Agistri again...

Starting with the owners Mrs. Alexandra and her daughter Tasoula, they are very kind people welcoming all the time, they are always next to you if you need anything, they are really amazing! The hotel location is great, few meters from the port of Skala, so you will not suffer with your bags to reach the hotel or when you leave back. The hotel is exactly over the sea, where you can swim and enjoy the sunbeds offered by the hotel. The balconies are big and have great view of the sea (We had a room with sea view), when we get into the room, you will have a shock of how modern and clean is the room, large comfort bed, spot lights with regulator for higher or lower light, a smart TV! Yes big smart TV! Very elegant bathroom, modern air-condition as well, The refrigerator was a bit small. The restaurant is over the sea and you enjoy the view, day and night! The food is fantastic and you feel the quality especially the sea food. The food is always fresh and guess what??!! You just order what you have appetite to eat and the time you want to eat and you will find it ready hot and fresh and with good price as well! My wife had appetite of fish soup that you don't find usually in the restaurants, but Mrs. Alexandra prepared a hot delicious plate of fish soup. The coffee was great as well, we enjoyed it staying on the sunbeds over the sea! The Hotel also has clean pool and rooms over the pool. Generally, we visit the island twice per summer, we tried many hotels and apartments, but this time we discovered Alexandra Hotel, which sure will be the hotel we will visit the next visit to the island! I totally recommend Alexandra hotel if you visit Skala at Agistri Island.
