I'm at a loss as to why Toxotis has so many good reviews. I wouldn't eat here again. We dined based on the excellent reviews, and indeed it seems most tourists do the same as it was by far the busiest taverna in Skaka. The first warning sign we missed is that it's only frequented by tourists. We didn't see any locals.
The menu is a classic Greek taverna affair. It is massively overpriced however. We had beetroot salad which was average, saganaki too which was also average, horta - wild greens which were completely tasteless and had the tiniest drizzle of olive oil on them. The biggest disappointment however came with the main course. As we both love octopus we chose the spicy octopus with feta and peppers. It was €13.50. Hands down this is the smallest portion of food we've ever been served for a main course it literally had five small cubes of octopus in the dish which was kind of a loose stew. The rest of the ingredients were spread thinly over the plate literally no more than 1cm high.
With drinks - which was a 500ml bottle of Mythos we shared - we paid just over €48 euros. An absolute rip-off. Every other meal we had on Agistri was well under €30 for two of us and the quality and quantity was far better.
Toxotis is a classic tourist trap surviving on its reviews alone. The food was mediocre and that's being generous. The portion size was laughable and the place is so over priced. Avoid like the plague. If you want really fresh, delicious and authentic Greek food at a fraction of the price head 30 meters down the road to Gyrokomeion that has THE best Souvlaki and salads on the island and is super value for money. Or you could follow the crowd and go to Toxotis for a truly underwhelming and over priced meal that it seems people feel compelled to write good reviews about. Either they have little idea how Greek dishes should taste or they're so embarrassed about getting ripped off they feel they need to leave a good review to convince others they're living...
Read moreI would put 5 stars but recently the cheft seems to not care about the food. We visit the island of Agistri almost every summer. To Agistri restaurant you can say itis the best location over the sea and the decoration is perfect, the prices as well are the best comparing with the others. What break all was the food, the fried calamari wasn't well cooked, fried shrimps were the only thing we could eat and we took chicken fillet but here was the big surprise, we couldn't even to cut the chicken with knife it wasn't even well marinated as if it was boild not grilled and the chicken was like old full of threads, we let the food how was, and I mentioned to guys that I wasn't satisfied and they didn't give a care, all they show is like how come I complain about a food I didn't like. Very bad for such a restaurant. I still insist that the chef needs to give more...
Read moreI usually don't like writing negative reviews but I really have to to warn others about this place. The food was just totally unacceptable. We ordered boiled greens ("horta" ). We tasted them a little and they smelled funny. We decided it would be safer not to try more. Its the first time in my life I see horta that smell spolied. The "Agistri" salad was not fresh. The tomatoes looked like they had been cut a few days before. The cheese did not taste fresh. We were really hungry and ate some of it. We also ordered fish (sea bass) which was the only dish we could eat. Nothing extraordinary though. By the way, the lemon that came with it also did not look fresh. The restaurant was also expensive versus other much better places nearby. Stay away from this place ! Totally unacceptable that this restaurant can get away with food that is...
