We booked to stay here four nights as part of our driving trip around Greece. We wanted somewhere close to the city and near to the beach for which this hotel looked perfect in the pictures. We booked the rooms which said "sea view or city view" and did not mind that this would be our most expensive stay as it looked so nice.||||When we arrived we were shown to some rooms that had road facing balconies. We asked to switch and were told "no" as the other rooms are all full up, even though we saw several empty rooms opposite us with sea view balconies. ||||The rooms themselves were large, clean and spacious however we could not use our balcony as whenever we tried, passing traffic was noisy and blew dust into our food and drink.||||We were further disappointed by the beach as it appeared to be man made with lots of pebbles and the water was very dirty. There was no tide and it seemed to be more of an estuary than a beach. We walked further up but there were still pebbles so it was not comfortable to sunbathe or swim or play beach games in.||||We were also unaware that the hotel was so far out of the city of Nafplion. We had been hoping for somewhere within walking distance (we don't mind a fair walk) but we had to drive each time we wanted to go out.||||Additionally the waiters seemed to want to take advantage of us. When we tried to speak Greek they kept correcting us which was disheartening and then kept adding items to our bill even though we said we did not want them (water, bread etc).||||We left early as we were very unhappy with this "beach hotel" and had to pay full price (for two nights unused). This obviously is in their policy so we cannot complain however it did not endear us any more to this hotel. I would not go back and would recommend finding somewhere better value for money...
Read moreThe hotel is located on a road opposite Nafplion with nice views of the city, the sea and the castle, which is very pretty at night. That's where all the nice stops. The room we stayed in was worn out, dark and the walls so thin, we could hear people talk in the other rooms. Nothing is updated from this century, with some cables running along the wall, a fridge that made a lot of noise at night and a sound system on the wall circa 1970 same as the bed and the décor. The bed was not comfortable and the carpet worn, bathroom tiles broken. The bathroom has one little light and the shower did not have a showerhead, only the hand-held. And the actual shower is a tiny corner shower with hard to open or close doors and it barely fits a 5'11'' person. But there is ample hot water and towels. And they have very fast service, I asked for a clothes iron which materialized immediately. The person at the front desk was very friendly and informative and the breakfast buffet was very nice until it was time to get coffee. We asked for fresh milk and the person making the coffee was very happy to oblige and he proceeded to blow in the cup to make certain there was no dust in it, and then he filled it with our milk so needless to say, we used evaporated milk... The coffee was good though. It is six minutes by car from the Nafplio port, no turns, get out of the hotel, make a right, get to Nafplio and great nightlife, so the location is perfect if you are OK with the state of the accommodation and using...
Read moreI enjoyed a three-night stay in Ignatia Hotel, escorting a group of students. Our goal was to visit the ancient theatre of Epidaurus, Mycanae and the island of Hydra. The hotel is situated five klms away from the city of Nafplion which is not a negative fact altogether. The area was very peaceful at that time of the year and the morning view of the bay just in front of the hotel was really tranquil. The rooms were very clean, if you don;t expect something too fancy or luxurious. The furniture is rather outdated and the plumbing is a bit rusty, but the people of the hotel are very helpful and kind and believe me that is very important, since the owners and staff seem pretty experienced. What really struck me was the fact that although it was not the busiest of seasons, the staff was more than adequate. The breakfast was definitely a plus, even though the coffee must be improved! Some maintanance work was underway while we were there, without that becoming a problem to us.||I would definitely recommend it for people who place their faith to tourist professionals and who are not seeking something...
