This stay has been absolutely amazing! Many great aspects have come together to make the experience truly exceptional.||The hotel is newly renovated in a warm and inviting style that fits perfectly with the surroundings and overall atmosphere.|The staff has been fantastic, with only a few minor exceptions.||There’s so much that could be said, but this is really something that needs to be experienced to fully understand.|The only thing we felt was lacking was more information before the trip, so I’ve listed some useful tips below:||Drinks are largely included through the all-inclusive package, and I’ve attached photos of the menu. Drinks are available at the pool bar from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM. The quality is very good, and the bartenders are incredibly friendly.||It can get quite windy up on the hill, which means umbrellas cannot be used when the wind is too strong.||One dinner at the à la carte restaurant is included. It consists of three courses, excluding drinks. Make sure to book early and avoid choosing a late time slot, as the kitchen closes early.||The hotel gym is well-equipped and has everything you need for a good workout. You’ll need to book a time slot at the reception the day before.||Mitsos the cat is an affectionate and friendly little character who simply must be petted! He even has his own Instagram and often works the evening shift at the pool bar.||Bottled water is not included and can be purchased at the bars, though it’s rather pricey. However, you can get water by the glass during bar opening hours.||A taxi to Ierapetra costs €8. The hotel can help arrange one, and it’s usually a very quick process.||The hotel offers a shuttle service to its sister property, Kakkos Bay Hotel, running between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM. The beach there is beautiful, but the surrounding area isn’t as pleasant. The all-inclusive package covers beer, soda, and water at the bar, but unfortunately, the bartender there was unfriendly and greeted us with a poor attitude.|||Our only real disappointment was with the à la carte experience. The man who welcomed us was rude and insisted that we order dessert after the main course. Because of this, the kitchen ended up closing, and we never received our dessert. The food itself wasn’t great either, and we really wish we had eaten from the buffet instead, as it was excellent.|When we mentioned that we never got our dessert, they didn’t even offer to cover the drinks (two Pepsi Max, totaling €8). This felt very stingy and left a bad impression.||Aside from that, the food overall was world-class and never felt repetitive or boring.||Thank you, Kakkos, for an incredible trip – we would...
Read moreDuring my stay at a hotel in Greece, I had mixed feelings about the experience. I'd like to share my observations to help future guests make an informed decision.
Cleanliness The cleanliness of the hotel was satisfactory. The rooms and common areas were well-maintained, contributing positively to the overall ambiance.
Dining Unfortunately, the dining experience was very disappointing. The food was tasteless, and some dishes were served straight from store-bought packages. There was a lack of traditional Greek cuisine, forcing us to seek authentic meals at nearby restaurants. This was a significant letdown, especially considering the four-star rating of the hotel.
Room and Amenities The room did not meet our expectations for a four-star hotel. The air conditioning was weak, functioning more as a fan than an effective cooling system. While the hotel exterior was impressive and some staff members were very kind and helpful, the overall room quality was lacking.
Beach and Location The hotel does not have a usable beach within 700 meters as some descriptions suggest; swimming there is prohibited. The hotel offers two daily transfers to a beach 10 km away, but only for 3 hours a day (from 11 am to 2 pm), with a limited capacity of 16 seats for the entire hotel, requiring prior reservation.
Service I observed unequal treatment of guests based on nationality. I personally experienced a situation where the staff member assisting me paused to serve a guest of another nationality first before returning to complete my request. This was unpleasant and surprising.
Pool The pool was very nice, with enough loungers for guests. The pool bar functioned well, providing good drinks.
Overall Location The hotel is situated in an area with very little to see or do. It is primarily a place for relaxation. If you wish to explore the surroundings, renting a car is necessary to tour the island independently.
In summary, the hotel has its strengths, such as cleanliness, friendly staff, and a good pool, but unfortunately, the dining, room climate control, and location leave much to be desired. Future guests should carefully consider their vacation expectations before...
Read moreOverall had a great experience staying at Kakkos Terra Blu!||||Good points:||• hotel has been refurbished to a high standard. Room was great with everything you would need and expect.the beds were very roomy and fairly comfy as far as hotel beds go.||• good selection of food in the main restaurant and the service staff are very efficient at clearing plates and glasses. ||• pool area was lovely and well kept. Not overly busy, never having to fight for sunbeds ||||Points to note:||• the al a carte restaurant, where you get one complimentary visit was fine in regards to food. However we were not made aware that all drinks needed paying for until after our visit. Little frustrating considering my partner had beer and I had Pepsi, which had we got these in the main restaurant would have been free. I understand it was probably not the exact same beer but just didn’t seem right in our opinion.||• the resort has a policy that if you want water in a bottle (rather than just a glass) you need to pay for a bottle, even when asking them to fill your own bottle. However, it some areas of the resort they were happy to accommodate and fill your own bottle of water.||||||Local area:||• it seemed we were to far out to do any of the Jet2 excursions (we were happy to sit by the pool but worth noting if you are someone who likes to be out and about) ||• one afternoon we did get a taxi into the local town…this left much to be desired, and within an hour of walking round we decided to head back! It seems that uber is non existent there, we luckily found the taxi located by Lidl but worth getting the taxi number in advance just incase!!! ||||Overall, we had a love week staying...
