Generally we would rank the hotel as average. Some good points and some less.||The good points:||• The hotel location: right next to a very calm beach with crystal clear water and very good for a swim. In a peaceful area with almost no other hotel in sight. The proximity to the airport (3 minutes’ drive) and the free shuttle service is also an important benefit.||• The pool is nice and the hotels provides good pool towels for free||• The food served on breakfast and dinner (buffet style) is basic but OK. The variety could improve but we understand the problem of running a relatively small hotel that cannot offer a large variety of different choices. However we would advise the holet to change the menu more frequently. You keep getting the same salads and main courses over and over every other day. We usually do not book half board but we would recommend it after all in this hotel, because of the lack of alternatives in walking distances from the hotel. ||• The Service: Irini hotel is in between a family run hotel and a commercial large hotel. On one hand the front desk clerk was very helpful and helped us to find and call a rental car company when we arrived, the restaurant stuff were very friendly, and you see the owners (and their sweet dog) around smiling to the guests, but on the other hand the hotel lacks the personal intimate connection we usually experienced in other family run hotels we visited in the past. The only time the owner came to talk to us was when we left the hotel back to the airport.||||The less good points:||• Price and Room type: as we reserved a “see view room” we were a little disappointed that we received a room not fronting the beach but in the back of the hotel with view of mainly other buildings, trees, pool, restaurant etc. and only on the horizon the beach. This is not the regular definition of “see view room” and the hotel should know that providing such a room that does not match its name, damages the satisfaction of the clients. On top of it the room is basic, and the sower is very small. Relative to the value of the room (and food) you get, the price we paid for the room is expensive (around 150€ per day), comparing other hotels we’ve been to in Greece ||• Maintenance of the hotel: the room was cleaned very well almost every day (not on Sunday), but the toiletries were provided in a randomized order. Luckily we brought some soap and shampoo with us. In addition there is no check that all is working properly in the room: For example our main room light was not working during all week we stayed in the hotel (We didn’t really need it and decided not to ask for it to be fixed during our stay, but still…). The same with the safe deposit that was locked when we entered the room (probably due to a former guest) and no one made sure it was opened when we checked in. Also the balcony had just one chair (and the same balcony of the room next door had 3 chairs…)||• Wifi: though there is a wifi all around the hotel, the connection in the room was bad with multiple disconnections||• Checkout: you should note the checkout is until 11:00 AM, though Booking.com stated differently. Eventually the hotel agreed to change the time due to this mistake in the booking info, but it took some time for them to agree. In addition we were charged twice with the same “government tax” for our stay- once through booking.com and once in cash during checkout. Eventually booking.com agreed to refund the double charge.||To sum up: we had a good vacation staying in the hotel but we would not rank the hotel as one of our top picks, though also not as a disappointment....
Read moreMe and my husband went there as a waitress and waiter. I would like to inform you guys that this hotel owner is worst. They take money from their staffs for water, tea, coffee etc. We just wanted to drink mineral water.but they said they can't give us beacuse its their roles. Before joining they inform us about their dress code and also Inform us that we have to manage the dress's and tickets with our own money. But they didn’t tell us about their cheap roles. We spends lots of money to join that job.but they can't give us clean water to drink. They said if we want to drink water, we have to drink water from the kitchen or bar tap line. They also told us they are serving their guest and their children this same tap water and they declared its clean and safe water. But in actual the water was salty. It can be harmful for your kidney. Beacuse my husband has kidney stone problem i know how harmful the salty water is. After knowing this cheapness, me and my husband decided to quit that job and we informed them we will not work any more. We also informed that we had booked our tickets and next day we will leave. And now, the most important things is when we didn’t agreed with their cheap roles, they stop giving us breakfast. Insulted us by telling we are not his guest and he will not provide us breakfast and food.He already knows that we had booked our tickets for the next day but they said we can't stay his hotel and we have to leave that moment. One more thing i want to share with you guys that day we came to karpathos the hotel owner received us from karpathos airport. But when we are returning they didn’t help us. They just cut some money from our salary and tell us to leave. And then we reached the airport by walking with ours belonging things. But airport was closed. The hotel owner knows about airport closing time but they didn’t inform us, maybe they wants difficulty for us. We left hotel in noon. We stayed that day and night in a cafe which name is CEFE TAVERNA. The old lady from this cafe was very kind and beautiful soul. She helps us by giving place to sleep in her cafe in the floor. That night was cold somehow we managed. But the old lady tried her best to help us and irini hotel owner didn’t help us. Now you guys can know how the hotel owner is. If anyone interested go for visit or work karpathos island. Please be aware of this irini hotel...
Read moreI am a windsurfer and nature lover, thus ended up in Karpathos.! The hotel rooms are great, very clean, the wifi is not that great though, so used 4G more often. If you have the choice, ask for the ones on the first floor, they have a better sea view. Make sure you have the fridge included as they charge extra to have it connected (I think all rooms have it). The breakfast has all you want, including french crepes which is a delicatesse compared to usual pancakes! We did not take the halfboard option so cannot say, but pricewise, they offered a really good deal to take all dinners there. The staff is very nice, including the boss that you can meet every morning at breakfast, He is a really nice person and will fix anything you ask him to fix!. The pool is nice, and is proteted enough from the wind to be able to read a book quietly. You have access to the beach within 10 meters; do not hesitate to ask for beach sun beds to the boss, he wll provide them, and if you put them back in the little shelter used to store your board, then no need to ask for it the day after. You can walk to the ION club, it takes 5 mns; in my case, my wife is not windsurfing, and she enjoyed her stay at the hotel, She could see us in the bay windsurfing, stay in the shade on the beach without having to breath sand because of the wind. There is no village close by foot, so I would recommend that you hire a car, if you plan to visit. ||Overall, we were with friends for 2 weeks there, and we all...
