This is a review of the 'Helona Resort' which is part of the Lakitira resort group here, but appears in the wrong place on GM for some reason...
Location - OK. The area is less commecialised than some of the other resort towns, though because of this it is quite difficult to get to Kos town and the best beaches without a car. There is a bus that serves Kardamena, but not the Kamari area for some reason. There is also some noise from aircraft coming into land, but not that annoying.
Facilities - Good. The Hotel is very stylishly designed, looking modern without being gaudy, with a very nice infinity pool and easy access to the beach. The rooms are a good size with a good bathroom and modern facilities, though some of the furniture seems a bit old, for such a new hotel.
Food - Nothing special. I'm not much of a foodie, so this didn't really bother me. But it seemed to be a rather standard 'big hotel buffet' system. There is an al la cart restaurant as well, but nothing special and at the time i visited was deserted in the evening. Poor wine selection unless you buy a bottle every time...
Service and staff - Fine. The man who checked us in, a middle aged man who i never saw again, was particularly friendly and helpful. The other staff were all helpful although some of the waiters seemed a bit disorganised, couple of time i got the wrong bill. The waitress at the Ulysess bar was very nice and almost flirty.
Value for money- average. I would question this being a '5 star' hotel, its a nice place but a bit overpriced
Overall - Perfectly nice place, impressive to look at, but not...
Read moreThe worst hotel I have ever been to!! It starts with an unpleasant employee at the reception. the reception supervisor is the worst one never smiling talking to the visitors as sub humans that are here only to butter him. he is the most unpleasant and unpolite person I have ever met! The water in the showers changes from hot to cold (extremely) every 10 seconds something that can drive you crazy! The hotel is located far away from every civilization if you don’t rent a car the only way out is one bus that is going to the city in the early morning once a day, if you miss it you are a prisoner in the hotel (and this hotel really feels like a prison). I can continue forever with the malfunctions and reasons why you should not come here. My recommendation is get as far as you can from this hotel, it is for sure the worst one in Kos...
Read moreComfortable Accommodation & Wide range of Sports Facilities. We travelled in a party of 8 with Mark Warner and were all very happy with the rooms and the fact that we were located in adjoining rooms which made early evening socialising easy to arrange. The restaurants on site offer a wide range of food which was tasty if unremarkable in nature other than the night sushi was an option which was brilliant. Windsurfing and sailing equipment was plentiful and of good quality, and beach staff super helpful in getting kit into and out of the water. Kardamena is a short taxi ride away (10€) or a 40 min walk and offers a wide range of restaurants and shops. We enjoyed our 2 weeks there and would certainly consider returning...
