At first you get a very good feeling that your stay will be perfect. It soon becomes clear to you that the owner George's greeting is just a backdrop, while the wife Renata's greeting is really sincere and warm. Renata is Austrian and feels that she has a sense for tourism. The harshness of Geroge's attitudes towards staff outside the family soon becomes apparent, and one gets the feeling that his wife is also afraid of him. You really don't go that far on vacation to discover the relationships between the owner and the staff, but they are visible from afar. And if you have at least some humanity in you, you notice it and it must bother you. Geogre is constantly parading around his kingdom watching anyone do anything wrong that doesn't fit into his mindset. At times it seems to you that the man is not the manager of a hotel, but of some kind of camp. The very first morning he splashed water on the tiles directly in front of our room as we were leaving it. He couldn't stop for a moment, so the dirty water from the floor splashed on us too. Very reckless behavior.
The swimming pool looks nice and maintained, but with strict rules. Swimming before 9 am and after 7 pm is prohibited. You are also not allowed to drink your drink or eat your snack by the pool. The guy from the outside staff is very friendly and helpful, but the owner imagines that he has him in a slave-owning relationship. This is visible in every communication with him. The same guy, following the owner's instructions, literally kicks the guests out of the pool area, as he has to set up sunbeds an hour before the pool closes. Even those in the immediate vicinity of the guests who are still by the pool. The same guy throws some kind of chemicals into the pool from the edge of the pool, which often gets blown around by the wind. Even if the guests are still on the deckchairs by the pool. Then he continues serving food and drinks in the same clothes, and when the owner has a new whim, the same guy jumps to his knees outside the bar and washes a stain on the curb that annoys the owner.
WIFI in room is non-existent.
I probably wouldn't have written an opinion, because it's right that each guest gets his own experience. I was encouraged to do so by the very rude, insulting and humiliating attitude of the owner on the last day. When leaving for breakfast, it happened that the room key came out of the lock in the wrong position when closing the door. The key didn't go in or out of the lock. I myself went to the bar at breakfast to tell owner about the problem. George, however, immediately attacked me with a raised voice accusing me that I break the lock. He didn't even ask what exactly was wrong, he attacked without questions or looking at the lock. He did this so loudly that all the guests who were having breakfast at that time looked towards us. Of course, his attitude like a Gestapo guard did not stop. He started shaming me in front of the other guests and my partner to be so manly and admit that I broke the lock. At this point even I couldn't be polite anymore and told him I smashed the lock with a hammer. After a while, he reached the room and looked at the situation, which in the end he was also surprised by. But he was not man enough to apologize for his humiliation, insults and rudeness. I've been to all continents, but I've never experienced such an attitude by any host anywhere. Fortunately, my partner and I stayed very little time in the hotel during our one week stay and luckily got to know the very hospitable, friendly and fun side of the island of Kos, which we experienced at every step as we cruised around the island.
At this point, I apologize to Renate, because I perceived her as a very sincere and hospitable woman and she does not deserve such criticism. The same applies to the rest of the staff. Unfortunately, they are all prisoners of an overbearing and...
Read moreAt the beggining we were welcome with orange juice served by nice owners wife and this was just one nice thing during whole stay. Then we got our room which was a cave. The room was really poor equipped , there was no TV and no Wi-Fi ( I know, you will ask why do you need TV during your holidays, but what in case when somebody will feel bad or be sick? This person should stay whole day in the room with no entertainment?). Due to the low location of the room, the telephone signal is very weak.Rooms were cleaning every day but towels and bed sheets was changed only once during whole stay ( I guess that guests from other countries had a daily changed of towels). The owner from the first sign seems to be nice and kind but he was watching our single move. The second sad situation is that you can be at the pool only then when you order something from restaurant/bar. In other case the owner have big problem with that you sit at the pool for free. Insane fact is that the owner had eyes on us all the time. He didn’t allow Polish guest to do shopping in the city. He wanted us to buy everything in his restaurant. There is a big difference in prices between his restaurant and shops in the city. For example the bottle of water 0,5l costs 1 euro in hotel restaurant where in the city center you can buy whole packed of bottles ( 6 big bottles of 1,5l each) for 2 euros. This is a huge difference and this in nothing weird that guests prefer to do shopping in the city than buy things in the owner restaurant. Whole stay we felt like we’re ignore by the employees . Hotel and restaurant staff were nice to guests from other countries. They were joking with guests talking with smile on their faces. We didn’t want to be treat like princess couple we just wanted to be treat like other guests. We didn’t hear from employees stupid “hello” “thank you” or “goodbye” not once. For whole stay we felt like we were disturbing everyone. For breakfast were very poor buffet, everyday the same things. One type of meat and chees no fruits and everything were counted how many guests so much bread. Supper stared at 7 p.m. and meals were served to the tables. So you can’t take what you want and you need to eat the portion which was prepared by the chef. If you were still hungry you need to buy something additional in...
Read moreWe found this hotel to be a lovely place to stay. The owners George and Renata were always around to help and the staff very attentive. Nico and Angelo and the rest of the staff were very friendly and go out of their way to help. ||We went Bed and Breakfast, we had 2 rooms as our 2 children are teenagers, they had a balcony and we had a ground floor, to be honest we preferred the ground floor. much more space to move the supplied table and chairs around, either into the sun or shade plus the advantage of easy access to the poolside. Balcony room does provide an amazing view of the Ageon sea, balcony are is a bit small, as the aircon unit occupies a part of it, lovely none the less. ||Our rooms were cleaned daily and the aircon works amazing, didn't have to pay for aircon either.||The hotel is a little bit out from Kardamena but is only a scenic 20 (ish) minute walk to the town. You can hire escooters using the HOPP app on your phone and you will find these in certain parking spots around town and can be a fun way to shorten the trip :)||Lots of folks hire cars/mopeds as its fairly simple roads in Kos, i think a car is around 50 euros/day, we did not hire but kinda wish we had now for a few days at least. the hotel can arrange this too.||The pool area is lovely, plenty of sunbeds and our experience always on the quiet side, You get a bit of wind off the mountains behind the hotel, which can get a bit strong at times but we fecht it was welcome relief from the toasting summer sun and some days there wasn't any wind at all.||Breakfast was served from 8am till 10am, perfectly good choice of cereals, yogurts, toast, hot food, coffee and cake.||Tue night is BBQ Greek night at the hotel which was 15 euro per person and worth every cent, Great food with BBQ and buffet and authentic Greek dancers who get the willing diners involved.||We wanted to do a day at the waterpark and Renata helped arrange the day including pickup from the hotel door, really great service. Not only that my wife had her birthday and I asked if they could organise a cake and hey presto, they did, and even brought it out during dinner with sparklers and all :)) My wife had a lovely red face and that wasn't from the sun lol||in summary we would 100% return to this hotel and thank you to Mammis beach for the...
