We staid 6 days in the hotel, to finish a trip in Crete. The main aim was to hike in the countryside, after having toured West Crete for a few days. The guesthouse is beautifully restored, in the middle of well maintained gardens, and almost in the middle of nowhere. From its terrace (where meals can be taken), you have a breathtaking view of the sea and surrounding mountains. If you choose to take your dinner there (the food is lovely, set meal, in the morning you are told what it will be and you can inform them whether you want to stay for dinner), your eyes rejoice on the view and the changing colour of the sky as your palate rejoices on the traditional well cooked Cretan food in your plate (starter, main, dessert, bread, local wine). Your ears feast on the sound of the Cretan night, it is an out of (your) world experience when you come from a large city!||Our room had no view but was very comfortable, with a small private terrace that came very pleasant in the evening to sip a hot drink while reading. The bathroom is traditional (no walk in shower, very traditional features).||The swimming pool is very pleasant with good views but it was a bit cold in late September and as we were hiking most of the days we did not spend a lot of time there.||The breakfast is perfect, generous buffet breakfast with local fresh products, unlimited access to the food. It is to note that there is also unlimited tea/coffe access during the day as well as tea/coffee making facility in the room (with a small fridge). For the tea drinkers it is a good place as there is a large amount of choice, which is not common in all hotels, especially in...
Read moreWe loved everything about this place. It is beautifully situated among the olive trees with a view over the mountains and the sea. There are only about twelve rooms and each room has their own little shaded patio, so it feels very intimate. The terrain is full of beautiful flowers and very tidy and clean. Tastefully decorated rooms in traditional style, also very well-kept. Rooms are equipped with AC, mini fridge, and TV (no safe). Pool was great. Breakfast always delicious and varied. Dinner is lovely on the elevated patio with great views and very reasonably priced. Efy and all the staff were extremely helpful and kind. ||||The only thing we would change would be for breakfast to start a little earlier than 8:30, to make it easier to start the day early.||||There are a few attractions that are walking distance (the spectacular ancient olive tree, a winery, some nice walks) but for most things you will need a car. The hotel is about a 10-minute drive from the main road and about 15 minutes from the closest...
Read moreMy wife and I visited Crete and the Greek islands for our honeymoon. Elia Guest House was a true highlight and one of our favorite stays of the trip. The Guest house is nestled in between sprawling olive trees overlooking a sleepy, Cretan village with the Mediterranean off in the distance. It's truly a beautiful property with well kept gardens, and very comfortable and charismatic country villas for rooms. We stayed in the deluxe suite and loved having a spacious private balcony that overlooked the hills. They serve delicious, Cretan dishes for dinner and we really loved coming together with the other guests to share stories and chat with the cook and server. Elie was an amazing, hospitable host that made us feel like family. It's also a great location for visiting other areas of western Crete. We took several day trips and loved being able to come back for the tasty home cooked dinners. We'll never forget our experience and would highly recommend staying at Elia Guest House for your next trip to...
