Villa Elarchon — Hotel in Municipality of Rethymnon

Have just returned from the most wonderful 10 day stay with a group of friends at Villa Elarchon. The gated villa suited our every need...private pool, outdoor barbecue and dining, a hammock, games room, small gym, table tennis, balconies with incredible views of the sea, 2 well equipped kitchens and living spaces as well as multiple bathrooms, bedrooms with air con and beautiful private grounds with ample parking, flowers, fruit and olive trees. Our hosts Theodora and Stelios could not have been more accomodating with complimentary biscuits/cakes/oil and vinegar. They even cleaned the villa & pool for us half way through the holiday. No question was too much, good communication from the moment we booked with recommendations for local attractions and restaurants, they even recommended our car company. Hiring a car (ideally with the capability to handle inclines) is a must for this area as the villa is up the mountain...wonderfully quiet and natural in a small town with local tavernas (highly recommend the one opposite the road leading to the villa) food markets, petrol station and bakeries. The beach is at the foot of the mountain...around 7 minutes by car from the villa...free parking, unspoilt with food and drink. Lovely clear water. Beautiful. Such a fantastic location that is around 25 minutes from Reythimno, 15 minutes from Kournas Lake, an hour from Chania. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again when we come back to Crete. Best hosts with a beautiful Villa! We were 10 staying here and it was perfect for us. The views are amazing, the pool is wonderful, the playroom has great things in it to pass the time in an evening. There are fridges on each floor. Showers and toilets on each floor. There is even a BBQ area if you wish to cook for yourselves. Theodora and Stelios are great hosts and can’t do enough for you. They book restaurants for you and tell you where to go for water sports, they recommend restaurants that you might be unsure of. There is always homemade biscuits or cake that are left for you. You have to stay here. We found the area lovely and quiet , and quite central to get to the different cities and towns. The nearest beach is 7 minutes by car . It is important to have a car. We used Seven Rental, again he was recommended by Theodora when I booked the Villa and he met us at Chania airport. I definitely recommend getting a car with some horse power, Crete is quite hilly and you need the horse power. like a Jeep Renegade. Hope you do get the opportunity to stay at this Villa you will not regreat it. It was nice being away from the touristy...
