This is a hard review to write. It is probably due to the timing of our visit, but our experience here was a bit hit and miss. We arrived at about 8PM to find we were not really expected - although having corresponded by email at least two months before. Not really a problem as the entire hotel had maybe two other rooms occupied. Took a good 15 minutes for them to come up with a room for us, and in the end it was on the top floor, probably the furthest you could get from the stairs (lovely view from the room though!). By the time we got back down to the restaurant for dinner, all that they could offer was Mousaka (previously prepared and then re-heated - wonderful anyway) and lots of wine. It was a good dinner - but the dining room was about 5 degrees - even the heater at our feet struggled to keep us from freezing). Room was quite small and the bed not really all that comfortable. This would have been OK if we had ben charged the 50 Euro I was expecting (based on the website info in March for the April timeframe) however we ended up with a 90 Euro charge. It was late and driving anywhere was not an option so I did not argue. Again, probably due to the time of the year, the hotel seemed a bit "dusty" as if if was just being readied for the season. It has all the potential charm in the world, and probably in the summer it is a fabulous place to stay - we were just a bit ahead of the rush. Would recommend for a summer visit - not so much for an early or end of...
Read moreThis hotel visit should have been our last 3 days following a 2 week trip around Rhodes||It is a spectacular looking place with wonderful views of the island.||However...We were met at the door by the most miserable young lady.||Nothing like a cheery "Hello" or "How was your trip! Oh no none of that. She merely waived a piece of paper in my face which I needed to complete. Then with a nod of her head she pointed us in the direction of our room. ||No details about the place, nothing to say where dinner or breakfast was served. She was just rude.||The room was basic. The bed was an original from when the hotel was initially opened. A very flimsy mattress covered the very noisy springs.||The shower head in the bathroom was not affixed to the wall and the shower curtain was about three inches too short. The corridor outside had the smell of a freshly cleaned WC.||We went to get something to eat in the dining room. A hard choice between Lasagne or moussaka. That was the choice nothing more.Expertly cooked in a micowave no less. ||This hotel needs to be dragged into the twenty first centuary and perhaps a hotel chain taking it over.||I have read previous comments about this place. Either I went to the wrong hotel or the people who have put good feedback on this site are easily pleased.||This is the worst hotel by far that I have ever stayed in.||We left the following morning||Quite...
Read moreMy stay in Hotel Elafos and Elafina was not exactly as I imagined it. During my three day stay my room was not cleaned once, despite repeated requests. ||||Also, I was scolded by the manager after I reported that the toilet had become clogged. He said I shouldn't have thrown toilet paper into the toilet. How I could have known this, was not clear, because this was not indicated anywhere. The manager even threatened me with a bill for unclogging the toilet, if he wouldn’t be able to do this himself. I've stayed in hundreds of hotels in Greece over the years, but I've never experienced anything like it. ||||The hotel looks very nice from the outside and is situated in a splendid environment, but would benefit from some modernisation and a major refurbishment. ||||To the most easily ac¬¬¬cessible rooms, one has to negotiate a steep staircase with more than thirty steps. The iron bedsteads have probably never been serviced since their installation in 1929. It all looks very tatty. The hotel appears to belong to a nearby village and it is unfortunately clear that the people who work there are untrained villagers, who had probably never seen the inside of a hotel before they arrived there. ||||All in all, a stay at this hotel cannot be recommended....
