I’m writing this for those who’ve already booked and are now panicking after reading reviews. I’ve been there. We fell for the official site, “fresh renovation” claims, and the Hilton name. Didn’t check reviews – big mistake. A few days before the trip, I stumbled upon them: bed bugs, cockroaches, mold - panic mode on. If you’re already booked – you can still go. If not – DON’T. The room. Ours was clean, no mold, no rusty fixtures. Just a basic standard room. But our only window/balcony faced the staff building where the cleaning team worked. That meant we spent all 7 days in a dark room with the curtains closed because otherwise, everyone could see straight in. And every morning at 6 a.m., we’d be woken up by a loud beeping truck reversing – delivering mattresses, picking up towels, etc. Imagine starting every vacation day like that. No privacy on the balcony either, so we never used it.
Housekeeping. At check-in, we were told the room would be cleaned daily and the minibar refilled every day. The first day, we had a full set of towels (as you’d expect from a 5-star hotel). But with each day, the number of towels got smaller until we were left with just two big ones – one per person. Minibar refill? Never happened after day one. We also had a few small bugs in the room during the first days, which stayed exactly where we’d killed them – apparently, they don’t clean the floors. Housekeeping was basically: make the bed, swap towels, done.
After we complained at reception, chaos began – within a short time, more than five different staff members came to our room one by one with random things: cloths, towels, drinks… The door was constantly open, and it was during the exact time people are in their rooms changing for dinner. Then came a very grumpy man with a whole crate of drinks to refill the fridge. He slammed things around, kicked our shoes. He stuffed the minibar so full that when you opened it, everything fell out, and then started putting the extra drinks on our closet shelves. Honestly, it felt like a passive-aggressive move – “Here’s your mountain of Coke, now stop complaining.” I wasn’t asking for anything extra – just what they promised at check-in. Privacy. The “Do Not Disturb” sign means nothing here. You can turn on the red light outside your door and hang the sign, but housekeeping will still knock and try to come in. Then they’ll claim, “Oh, we didn’t see it.” How do you miss a red light and a paper sign? Please, train your staff to respect guests’ privacy Sunbeds & pool. The loungers are stained – you don’t even want to look at them, let alone lie on them. There’s a green rim around the pool that clearly hasn’t been cleaned. Beach/pool towels. You can only get them in the morning, and there aren’t enough for all guests. Miss the morning rush and you’re out of luck. Some people grab four towels each just to cover the dirty sunbeds, making the shortage even worse Service. The staff themselves are lovely – waiters, bartenders, reception – all genuinely caring and hardworking. But there just aren’t enough of them. One waitress for the whole pool area, running around in the heat for hours – that’s just unfair working conditions 7.Insects: First night – a 7 cm cockroach in our room. Couldn’t sleep. Then wasps everywhere, spiders. Wasps land on food and try to get in your mouth. Room was sprayed once – helped, but why not daily? Food. At first, I thought, “Okay, not much variety, but what’s there is tasty.” But then we talked to friends staying at a nearby 4-star hotel – they had seafood and fish every day. Here, it was the same white fish on repeat: with lemon sauce, in tomato sauce. In seven days. At a beach resort! Labels for dishes were often missing. Invite a baker to teach your staff how to make bread that isn’t a brick. Croissants and buns could break a nail. This was a definitely our last time here. The hotel has amazing potential – private beach, huge territory, but it feels like the management spends the budget on themselves instead of improving the property....
Read morePlease avoid staying here, I rarely write reviews, however, I would never want anyone else to experience the burden of this hotel, especially after the extremely costly prices being charged.
Hygiene/Cleanliness -On our first day, there was blood on a pillow case. We brushed it off at the time, however this is genuinely a health hazard and is very concerning. -On returning home, me and my friend have discovered bed bug bites all over our legs, feet and back. -Multiple cockroaches in our room. -Sunbeds were absolutely filthy, you need two towels to cover one. -Toilet roll would be left on the floor at the one pool toilet as the holders are broken, this is very unhygienic and unacceptable. -Sulphur smell in and around hotel, including strongly in our room. -Kids pool had a green tinge to it, obvious it hasn't been cleaned in a while. -Majority of cutlery and glasses were filthy.
Amenities -States 'family curated activities' on the website, this is honestly laughable considering the lack of entertainment, pool activities and food options for kids (the same 2 food options every night). -No pool service, which tends be the norm for 5 star hotels. -Very difficult to get a taxi from the hotel, there doesn't seem to be a queueing system with guests as me and my friend got skipped multiple times. -During our 9 day stay here there was only one night of actual entertainment , which I feel should be revisited considering the very remote area and little to do outside the hotel. The other nights consisted of entertainment by a 'DJ' who just played radio songs that should be on at the bar regardless, rather than classical music. -Access to water is very limited at night, they padlock the fridges. As if you're not allowed to help yourself to 'all-inclusive' drinks.... -The same 20 non-copy right songs played on repeat throughout the full day, me and my friend could genuinely name the song that would come on next. Every other guest we spoke to laughed about this too.
Rooms -Very dull rooms, making it hard to get ready. Additionally there is a large mirror in the room with no plug next to it which seems wasteful. -Inconsistent times for room cleaning, 08:30 one day and 17:30 the next. -Staff will chap door to clean, despite shouting no they still helped themselves into our room. At one point I was lying with no clothes on. -We found that our stuff would often be moved, making it difficult to find my friend's medical equipment at one point. -You cannot control the temperature of your AC, also you cannot turn it on/off when desired. -Limited storage options for clothes in the room, there is overall 5 small drawers and 5 coat hangers. --Mini fridge never restocked throughout our stay despite asking for this to be done, Ended up being easier to just buy soft drinks from the on site shop.
Food/Drink -Subpar buffet food, I have ate at better 3 star locations. -Ice cream shop opens at 1700, majority of people want ice cream sitting by the pool/in the hot sun, not at sunset. -Had to put phone torch on to eat dinner at the Greek restaurant as there was very minimal outdoor lighting. -Yummy truck served minimal options, we saw the worker literally pour the chicken nuggets from a bag right infront of us, reheated and greasy. Truffle mayo was nice though.
Service -On arrival we didn't receive a QR code, so we couldn't make reservations in advance for days. -Very understaffed, appears to be the same staff on every day, made us question the ethics of the management. -Majority of staff are unpleasant. One out of many examples being that a woman at the desk in reception picked up her own personal mobile phone that was ringing and began having a conversation whilst in the middle of trying to assist us. -Unprofessional comments made from certain staff members. Asked me and my friend to come 'party' with them later on in the evening whilst we were standing outside our room, making us feel extremely unsafe as two young women. -The only thing that made this stay somewhat bareable was Endry at the bar, he went above and beyond for...
Read moreHere is the review you need if you’re just a normal person (not a hotel expert or someone who has been to lots of 5 star hotels). If you are trying to enjoy a nice holiday with your significant other for a few days (we stayed for 4 days) this is a great place if you don’t expect the best of the best because then you would have to visit another place. Pros: Believe me, do not get bothered by the reviews about the staff not being friendly, these were some of the nicest people I have ever seen and I have seen A LOT of people from all around the world. The staff are super nice, understanding and helpful, you just shouldn’t see them as “servants”. These are people doing their jobs very very hard, and if they are reading this specially Leo, Kiara, the manager of the greek restaurant and all of the main buffet staff, I want to say thank you for understanding and accepting the feedback and thank you for trying to fix the issues, that’s where it starts!
The place looks really beautiful and unique for a few days (but it can get boring after 3 days) it does get cleaned even tho the place is short staffed, they try their best.
The water in our room was hot, no temperature problems at all! It got hot after 15 seconds max.
Those who say that the air conditioning doesn’t go below 23, that’s true on the thermostat it says 23 but when you drag your fingers counterclockwise you see that it goes below 19 even tho it still says 23, just close the doors and give it 5 minutes, you will need blankets!!
You only get paper cups if you want to take your drinks to the beach. The staff asks you very nicely if you want to take your drink to the beach which actually very good since you don’t want broken glass in the beach, if you don’t speak English (which I saw a lot of examples) and you just say “yeah” they give you a paper cup. Otherwise you get a special glass for each drink.
Here are some points that were maybe only for us but:
There was always sun beds available for us at the beach or pool side. There were only couples there, maybe 10 children in total. Our minibar got filled every single day and so did they clean our room and we had clean towels every single day. The vibe of the main bar which opens after 6 pm I believe, is so cool just like the movies people are sitting in a chill and movie like place just talking and ing till late and the ice cream place was just normally open at the given time!
For the traveling around the house: we rented a car for exactly €42 for 4 days from RecordGo and picked up the car at the airport. Just filled the tank for €30 and we got around for the whole vacation while enjoying the island nature. It’s max 50 to 60 min from the hotel to the big city with the ports and the airport.
Now the cons: I’m sorry but yes the food is very very bad. Even at the special restaurants. The sushi has been in the fridge with the plate for maybe two days when they bring it, it’s the exact same taste as a supermarket sushi here in the Netherlands. The buffet food is 3 stars and no 5 stars. But again the staff in restaurants made it up (at least for us) with their super nice attention.
We had to kill two cockroaches in our room and my girlfriend was terrified (yes she is very sensitive:D)
The pool water is indeed dirty, there are mosquitoes, larger insects and sometimes drinks flowing on the pool water. But this was the case only in 1 day of our stay.
Maybe offer a golf cart ride also for the check out? We had to walk a lot to get to the reception.
The hotel grounds need lots of professional gardening.
Yes some grounds are a bit dirty. (It didn’t bother me since it’s minimum, at least for me)
All and all, if you are trying to enjoy a nice vacation for a few days, I definitely recommend it since I could clearly see that these people are doing their best to get better. Don’t let the reviews bother you. And no they didn’t ask me to leave a nice review and also didn’t buy me for these reviews. Take a look at the...
