Hotel Semeli is nicely situated right in the beginning of Goura village, overlooking the whole valley and easy accessible by car. The owner is very friendly and tries her best to please the guests. ||We were a company of 6 friends, 3 couples, renting 3 double rooms, which were really basic. All rooms had only single beds, no double beds, with extremely hard mattresses, small old televisions far up on a shelf on the wall, receiving only two TV channels, which is not much in a village, were there is hardly anything open at night. There was no fridge or safe in the rooms and the balcony stretching over the front side of the building was common. Some of the furniture seemed worn out, but the rooms were clean though, as were the bathrooms, which need refurbishing too. Breakfast was good and contained some local products, as one would expect in a rural area like this. It was served in the reception room, that was not heated at all at 8 o’clock in the morning (5 degrees outside), so most of us ate in their thick jackets. One other hotel guest was smoking, which should not be permitted in the breakfast area.||Having traveled a lot in Greece and abroad, and being able to compare prices, we all agreed, that 75 Euro per double room in the month of February, in the remote village of Goura, is by far too much. The hotel is very simple and basic and 40-50 Euros should be the absolute top price for an accommodation of this kind...
Read moreOur family Stayed 4 nights in 2 separate rooms. We appreciated Sotiroula and Maria’s hospitality ( filoxenia) and warmth during our stay, and their willingness to respond to any concerns we had. Breakfast was included in the tariff and Sotiroula was very flexible in offering a range of foods to appeal to our taste ..... especially as we were travelling with teenagers. The rooms are simple but impeccably clean. They were serviced with a smile each day by Maria. Each room has an outside balcony area and ours had an amazing view over the valley. The rooms could perhaps be improved by having a small fridge .... but as we were out all day it wasn’t a problem for us. ||Hotel Semeli is a perfect base of explore many wonderful places in the surrounding area. The little village of Goura is beautiful and provides a little glimpse of traditional life. We sat and had a coffee in the village square and enjoyed seeing men playing cards at the local kafeneon whilst dogs and children ran around the square. ||If you are looking for glitz and glamour go elsewhere .... but if you are looking for good old fashioned Greek hospitality with amazing views then Hotel Semeli is worth...
Read moreThe owners were so friendly, attentive and very helpful about getting around the area. At small hotels, the attitude of the owners and staff make all the difference. Semeli is a good choice if you plan to use it as a base to get out and explore the area and not hang out at the hotel. The location was great - fantastic view and just a few minutes walk to the square (a couple of restaurants, a cafe, a small supermarket, a pharmacy, and an ATM. Remember, this is a village. The hotel was charming, the room was average for the price category and comfortable. Plenty of electric outlets, extra pillows, small but nice bathroom. Since this is located in a farming village on the hillside, at night you will hear farm sounds in the valley, like working dogs, sheep's...
