When i first came to the outskirts of Thiva i didn't expected much of the hotel i've previously booked. Usually the pictures shown on web pages/booking etc. show a distorted reality. But luckily, Meletiou hotel isn't one of them. For a very affordable price you get super clean room, the sheets are always fresh (yeah, i've experienced hotels with questionable hygeene) and the furniture isn't from the last century, but fairly stylish. The bathroom, although being small (not sure for the other rooms), is very clean and everything works as it should. Clean, soft towels, body and hair shampoo... WiFi is free, and the reception of the signal is strong. The staff of the hotel is super friendly and helpful. The hotel is situated on a live alley, surrounded by wonderful bar's/pubs/gyros places with heaps of friendly young locals. From the time I called from the USA and spoke to the kind manager, Mr. Apostoli, I was given all the information and support for my visit. When I arrived, I was very happy when I arrived. It felt like being at home. They helped me arrange my transportation with a very nice taxi driver, Mr. George, who took me to two monasteries. The room was spotless with a full bath and beautifully cleaned and ironed sheets with high quality soft towels. The breakfast was simple but outstanding with excellent Greek coffee which they make fresh. The lobby was magnificent. I was happy to meet the owner, Mr. Melitiou who made everything so easy especially organizing my long distance trip to the shrine of St. John Rossos in Avia and my trip to Veria. Many more. |Staff are helpful and jumped to greet us and assist with luggage. |Drop your luggage in front and circle for parking, shouldn't be hard, just make sure not to park in Taxi spot. |Driving to hotel gets scary as you drive thru industry and excluded erea for a bit before reaching live area. |Conclusion : for a night or two it's not a bad choice even with young children....
