I hold a profound love for the island of Tinos, inspired by the holy and miraculous presence of Panagia Megalochari. So, the decision to return to the island and experience Odera Hotel for the first time was effortless.
Friends had spoken to me with glowing enthusiasm, still their words had barely scratched the surface.
Some places are designed simply to host you; Odera was clearly created to embrace you. From the very first moment, it felt like stepping into a space where time slowed down and details had been considered wisely. It is pet-friendly, and just as welcoming to couples and families!
Perfectly located near the main town of Tinos, yet far enough to feel like you’ve stepped into your own secluded sanctuary, it blends Cycladic architecture with understated modern elegance. Natural materials, sunlit spaces, and soft, calming tones create a setting where nature coexists quietly with design. The meaning of Odera (“Ode to the Air”) reflects the experience: an ode to beauty, serenity, and the simplicity that defines authentic luxury.
The surroundings invite you as well to lose all sense of place and time, with the deep blue Aegean as your only frame of reference. Wherever my gaze wandered, I found balance and understated nobility.
Entering my room felt like inhaling fresh air. Awaiting me was a bottle of my favourite Greek rosé and a stylish waterproof beach bag! The décor was warm and soothing, the soundproofing perfect for uninterrupted rest. The bed supremely comfortable, that made me linger in the morning… I loved the bathroom window and appreciated the perfect water pressure, along with its luxury toiletries that added a refined touch. Cleanliness was impeccable, twice daily, with a nightly sweet treat placed on the bed.
My spacious balcony opened to a breathtaking view, an endless horizon where the infinity pool visually merged with the Aegean Sea, creating a scene of floating combined with pure relaxation. Every day, I watched the staff meticulously maintain the front pool, a testament of care.
Walking through the grounds, I felt the hotel’s quiet sophistication mirrored the landscape giving me a sense of seamless belonging. Just a short stroll down from my room brought me to its own cove, a beach that looks like a fairytale and feels like a world away. Its crystal-clear and shallow starting waters took me back to my childhood trips to Bali. The shallows provide a sense of safety, while the deeper blues invite you to drift and encounter the captivating ocean floor.
Breakfast itself was delightful: fresh fruit, a rich variety, and the joy of finding my absolute favourite Cretan pastries, named in Greek word “skaltsounia”.
Eos restaurant is a gastronomic gem. The chef gracefully delivers his finest by creating a unique menu that celebrates fresh, local ingredients. Among the dishes we ordered were tacos, avocado tzatziki, tender beef fillet, and lobster kritharoto, all excellently prepared. Nevertheless, the pastry chef’s creations are nothing short of exquisite.
As far as the spa, it blissfully exceeded my expectations. Treatments feature premium products. We enjoyed the marine body scrub, royal jelly facial and lavender candlelight deep tissue massage. We also spent time in the steam room, and tried the floating bed which was so restorative! Relaxation area was striking, with a stunning indoor pool whose hand-painted ceiling added an artistic flourish.
There is also a well-equipped fitness area for those wanting to keep active and yoga on the beach every morning. Hiking excursions are available too for exploring Tinos and its rich traditions. In September, a Starlight workshop will take place!
At Odera, you feel privileged to be here. It’s a place you will want to return to again and again, and one you will remember with a deep, almost wistful nostalgia in winter. Its aura recalled to me the melody Waves of Spanoudakis, waves of light and sound enveloping you. You feel present and open. It is the place of lost in the moment, exactly what we need, not only on vacation,...
Read moreThis was our first trip to Tinos Island and decided to stay at Odera as we are Marriot Bonvoy members and have never been disappointed with locations and services. We usually go to Milos every year as my wife's family is from that island but wanted to explore this place as it seemed beautiful in photos on the internet.
The drive from the port was nt the smoothest but if you want to reach the destination safely, do not use Waze but rather use Google Maps. We first used Waze and the GPS route took us to some crazy off-road location which was truly scary. And with our 8 month old in the car with us, It seemed even more unsafe. Anyways upon entering the destination in Google maps, it rerouted us and we were at the Odera property not long after.
Once we arrived, we were greeted by the Valet at the entrance. The concierge took our bags out of the vehicle and we then proceeded towards the reception area. Here we were greeted by the friendly staff and someone escorted us to our room after the documentation was sorted.
The room that we had booked had a beautiful view of the Aegean waters and was a comfortable sized bedroom. They provided us with a baby cot as requested and we tried to settle in to the room. 5 minutes in to our checkin at the room, the bathroom started leaking from the roof. We immediately called the reception to report the leak. They said they will be sending maintenance to come and have a look. Shortly after an individual knocked on the door and said he wanted to have a look at the leak. He then fixed the issue but by then the entire bathroom had water every where. We requested him to send the house keeping staff to get the bathroom cleaned up. a few minutes later, the same guy from the maintenance team (without a uniform) came with a cloth and started wiping the bathroom fixtures and wiping the floors with the same cloth. We asked him that this would not work and needed the bathroom properly cleaned. We called the reception again and told them to send the right staff to do the clean up as the maintenance staff had no idea what they were doing.
10 minutes later 2 individuals from house keeping and uniforms on, came to clean up the bathroom. Once they had left, we had put in a request to either move us to another room or an upgrade (Being Marriot Bonoy Gold Elite members). The reception staff said that they will check and let us know of any other availability. We never heard from them again.
This was the only slight negative experience we had as they weren't very accommodating to our needs, especially as we had to go up and down the stairs from our room with a 8 month old baby.
Anyways in saying that, We had an amazing time and this was only possible due to the hotel staff. From the restaurants to the beach cafe, to the house keeping staff, it was an absolute pleasure to stay there and experience the Greek hospitality which we are so used to.
A special thank you to Costas, George, Aggeliki, Hara and Stella. They made us feel at home and were super nice to my wife and I, especially our baby boy. They are the only reason why i will give this property 5 stars. They deserve all the praises. Bravo and keep up the great services you all provide.
Thumbs up all the way and a definite location...

CONS
The Food and Beverage program is absolutely brutal at this property. We dined at the restaurant three times and did not return due to horrible service and lacklustre quality. Upon going to the restaurant, we were never greeted and waited over 10 minutes before a staff member would even ask if we wanted water. Preferential service to local guests was clear, as we would have to flag down staff to order or even have our plates cleared, as other tables had several servers making constant touch points with certain guests. On every visit to the restaurant, we would be served different items than what we had ordered, or the items would simply not come. Even when the food did get delivered, several items were over cooked and underwhelming. Upon addressing the issues with staff, they blamed colleagues for the issues and did not offer to improve the experience. In addition, the breakfast selection is 3 star quality.
Despite being told that the pillows are “very expensive”, be warned that they only have one pillow option for the entire hotel that has very little neck support. Side sleepers beware.
Despite being friendly, the front desk made no effort to make our experience more enjoyable. When we voiced our issues, nothing was addressed. Even when we first came to the property, we were shown to our room by a staff member who realized the lights in our room were not working correctly. She insisted that she would return to address the issue; we never saw her again.
There was clearly work being done on the hotel at night, as lights would randomly turn on in the middle of the night and the water was shut off without notice.
Despite the rooms having beautiful design, they are not sound proof. A huge short coming for a luxury hotel.
Heads up for Marriot Bonvoy AMEX holders, this hotel refused to accept AMEX despite reading online that it was an acceptable form of payment. The hotel staff blamed it on “AMEX outages”. I guess the “outage” didn’t affect the independent restaurant down the road.
A 4x4 vehicle is recommended to access this hotel. The only access road is approximately a 5 minute drive on rock and dirt terrain.
This hotel has truly stunning design and a postcard worthy view, however, I would not return unless management is completely overhauled. A luxury property can be found on Airbnb, I choose a hotel for hospitality. Hotel management doesn’t have the slightest idea of what...
