The positive: The location is simply perfect. Pine forest all around, silence, clean air, everything you need for a perfect getaway from the city. The staff were very kind and friendly. The whole guesthouse looks amazing in general, very well built and maintained in the common areas. The room was very big, almost sparkling clean, and mostly in good condition, with a large bed and couch, and a well-sized kitchenette. Plus: surely the best WiFi we had in a hotel in a looong time, really a lot of electrical sockets all around the room, and all wood for the (tiny) fireplace was at no extra cost (most places offer the first batch "for free" and then charge for any extra). And we got a free upgrade, got a first floor room for a better view, very sweet!
The not so positive: To be honest, if it didn't have "Luxury" in the title we would feel better about the guesthouse in general. But: the bed was too hard (and I like hard-y beds, but with a soft upper layer), the pillows were terrible, and the sofa was really uncomfortable (no way to sit for more than 15 minutes without getting back aches - we were told that in their "better" rooms the couches are not so often used as a bed so they get to be comfier, acceptable explanation but problem not solved). This means we booked this place to relax (brought a handful of books with us) and ended up spending no more than a couple of hours before going to bed in the room, as it was simply impossible to get comfortable, and we are not a hard couple to please, we don't need luxury or anything, just a warm comfy room with a soft couch and a nice bed. Also, there was not even one hook for a coat (and this is a 100% winter destination), absolutely nothing in the kitchenette to make it a bit cosy for the guest (no tea, no coffee, absolutely nothing to say "please feel welcome"), some issues with room maintenance (2 bulbs were missing, another 2 were out, the bathroom door handle was almost broken, the bathroom trash can was a bit damaged) that don't really scream "luxury". But the worst of all was the breakfast: first of all, the breakfast room. Almost a basement, NO OUTSIDE VIEW WHATSOEVER, and you have one of the best views we have ever seen. I cannot imagine how they decided to pick this space for breakfast, you couldn't tell if you were at 1.000 m altitude in the pine forest or in a well-lit basement in Athens. Terrible, simply terrible. And the breakfast itself: also an Athens vibe to it, although now in Athens breakfast is really getting better. Nothing really "village-y", no local produce whatsoever, just supermarket stuff. We did eat it, but it was 100% wrong for the place. Such a disappointment. All in all: with a bit of work this can be an extraordinary guesthouse, a...
Read moreThe hotel is located in a remote village, therefore without fully fueled car there are nothing to do. However, with the car it's wonderful place to stay! You live in a peaceful beautiful environment. You are close to the city Tripoli (20 min) where you can find nice restaurants for the dinner (if you get bored with village food), theater and other benefits of civilization. ||Must see|Living in Nefeles you also have an advantage to see Menalon ski resort, although at the end of December there wasn't any snow and it looked quite abandoned. From Nefeles you can travel to very beautiful village Dimitsana, which really worth to visit! Must see there: "Open air water power museum"! Brilliant! The village Vytina not so far from the hotel and has nice tavernas-restaurants with tasty modern Greek cuisine and good service. In the village Kapsia, nearby, you must see incredible, impressive "Kapsia Cave", excursion provides professional guide who will tell an interesting secrets of huge and old cave, and the area Arcadia.||Our room in hotel with wonderful mountain view was specious, clean, equipped. The fireplace created amazing romantic atmosphere in evenings. ||The breakfast was served in a very nice decorated room, but without big windows, and any view. The choices were quite limited, but all dishes were of good quality. The coffee was simple, so after the breakfast people went upstairs to a beautiful lounge with panoramic windows and cozy fireplace to order an extra drink: a cup of espresso or cappuccino. ||Overall the place is very enjoyable to stay for vacation. It has its pros and cons. But personally we liked it and recommend to you,...
Read moreIf there is not snow so you can go skiing, there is nothing else to do. The signs of the area where not good and if you do not have google maps you can just drive around wasting your time, until you arrive to your destination. Kardaras area has nothing to see and nothing to do. Hotel breakfast poor. The room were the breakfast was served was depressing. A curly black hair on one of the coffee cups when I went to get my coffee. The only good food was the yogurt, and the only good thing to see was two very beautiful cuts outside that room of the building. Average furniture, the windows were blury (not clean) and when the sun hits the room you can not see outside. In the shower there is no place to put your shampoo, so either hold it with one of your hands or put it down on the floor. The rugs seemed dirty. Probably never got cleaned since they were bought and placed in the rooms. In the closet they offer 2 extra down comforters...if you see how they put them in the closet you would never want to use them. They looked used and not cleaned. The sofa did not look clean so did the pillows that were put on it. So better get a nice big sheet to cover it and sit, unless you do not care! The safe in the closet did not work. We called the manager, he came, he saw the problematic safe, he said I am coming back. He did not come back. In the morning I open the door to get some fresh air. On our balcony right outside the balcony door there were 2 trash bags with delivery food (from previous customers), that were never picked up. We left the place as soon as possible. Home...
