First, I must note that I stayed at another hotel in Vatera and only visited the Omiros for drinks and to enjoy their sea view. Therefore, I can't give a higher score. But I can say that the hotel looked very clean and the owners are very hospitable. Eleni was very friendly and tried her best to chat with me - her English was non-existent, which matched my level of Greek. :) She wrote out prices for the rooms, which were very reasonable. Prices for drinks are very low and you might luck out if Eleni offers you some fresh pears out of her garden. Very tasty. The location of the hotel is in a quiet spot on the beach (where the water is so clear and blue) so, if you're looking for a relaxing, calm, unassuming and welcoming place to stay in Vatera, consider the Omiros. Oh and don't let the news about refugees put you off. While there, we saw no signs of refugees in Vatera or any of the towns on the island that we visited by car.
