Elpida Resort & Spa — Hotel in Serres Municipality

The hotel was really nice and the personnel was very pleasant, kind and cheerful. The breakfast was excellent, although I don't personally think much of a machine served coffee in a luxurious hotel. Apart from that the breakfast was indeed great. We had some other troubles though. We visited this place as part of a professional obligation, in an effort to combine it with our first family weekend escape with our young son. We didn't care about the spa or the rest of the facilities the hotel had to offer. The rooms were ok, but they definitely need some maintenance! The door in our room was really hard to lock, so our son could easily escape in the hallway, and when we finally had time to relax and managed to have him asleep, we would like to have a bath. It was only then that we realized that it was impossible to have a shower, because the bath tap was broken and we couldn't turn the water to run properly. It could be something easily solved if we didn't have a sleeping baby in the room, but under these circumstances it was impossible to have someone fixing it and so we didn't manage to have a shower at all during our stay. Last but not least, some guest were talking really loud on the corridor around 4.30 -5.30 in the morning, so that our son woke up and we couldn't get him to sleep because of the noise. Unfortunately we didn't enjoy our stay, although I do realize that this doesn't have to do completely with the hotel management. Great place. Friendly services. Nice for families. Two stars down for a major problem with my room door. Kept triggering the alarm and no help for the reception. They did offere to shift us to another room but that's not a good idea near midnight when you are trying to sleep and you have a child. I had to sleep with my door open. There was no one that could fix that doors alarm and the problem should not have been there in the first place in such an hotel. The breakfast was really nice. The waitress very helpful and nice. Food was perfect. The swimming pool very nice too. There are many restaurants and cafes and an open cinema around the corner. Mind the elevators especially for the youngsters. The IR eye that stops it from closing with somebody in between does not function. A small child could hurt. Also the level of the elevator was not kept constant...

Great hotel. We last stayed here in 2015 and were happy to visit again for a round of the World EnduroGP. The air-conditioned rooms are spacious, soundproofing is excellent and the beds are very comfortable. Reliable Wi-Fi throughout. The staff are efficient and professional. The cleanliness is tip-top. Great selection at the buffet breakfast catering for all tastes. Minor quibble is that I'd prefer bigger, fluffier bath towels and the toiletries supplied weren't great. And I prefer a walk-in shower to the over-bath type which we had; (maybe some rooms have walk-in type? And no doubt many guests like having the option of bath or shower.) We didn't use the spa facilities, but I gather they're very good. The outdoor pool is fabulous and was much appreciated in the 30+ heat. Would definitely stay here again - as often as...
