ARCHONTIKO VILLAGE VOLIMES — Hotel in Zakynthos Municipality

My family & I stayed in the Archontiko Villa in Volimes (booked through AirBnB) on the quieter side of the island for 4 days, and it is safe to say our stay here blew us away! It was a dream!

Upon arrival, we were welcomed with the most beautiful countryside, flowers blooming everywhere, and a table set with dessert & wine along with a full basket of local gifts (wine, olive oil, ouzo, jams, olives, and more). Maria, the hostess, was always a quick message away and made sure our stay was comfortable. She is so very kind!

In my previous visit to the island, I stayed in Zakinthos--which is a nice town, but tends to be more touristy. In contrast, the north-western part of the island has some of the most beautiful cliff beaches, caves, and swimming so wonderful you'll feel like you're in an outdoor playground. If you do your research, you can find places off the beaten path, and away from the big crowds. The drivable beaches within a 20-30 min radius to the villa were some of the most beautiful we saw, including one beach only 5-7 mins away.

Lastly, the village of Volimes, and those surrounding, are full of some of the world's most hospitable people. We were treated to some wonderful meals, handmade, artisan crafts (such as wool pillows, embroidered blankets, pottery, and such). And all of the food is locally sourced--some of the best greek yogurt, honey, olive oil, and cheese you will ever put in your mouth. By the time we left, we were showered with gifts and friends that we hope to return to see.

We absolutely loved this place!!! We stayed 12 days and we really enjoyed it ! The hostess Maria was kind enough to give us tour of the area which was very kind of her. We absolutely loved the complementary traditional cheese plate when we arrived. That was very much appreciated especially after a long flight!
