Hotel Posada Don Francisco — Hotel in Cobán

I've stayed at Don Rodrigo's twice recently. The rate is good and the hotel has a wonderful view of a river and a mountainside that very few other hotels in Coban could compete with. I have a few recommendations to make if you are planning to stay there: |1. The rooms on the first floor are rather humid. Not much they can do about it but if that sorry of thing bothers you, make sure to ask for a room upstairs. |2. Some rooms don't get a WiFi signal. I'm guessing that they're not getting the most potent router in the market, and again, for the price it's alright, but keep in mind of you need the connection for work reasons, for example.|3. Towels are on the old side. Recommendation: bring your own|4. What was really the deal breaker for me on my last stay was that I found two fully grown cockroaches in my bathroom. I understand that because of the surroundings and the type of building it is, such a thing is unavoidable and it's not the staff's fault in any way I can fathom, but still... I'm not one to jump at the sight of a bug, but it did leave a bad taste on the back of my mouth. Had to cut my stay short and go find another place in the morning.||On another note, the restaurant...

PÉSIMA ESTANCIA: no lo recomiendo por ningún motivo. Reservamos una habitación con cama king y una cama matrimonial, resulta que cuando llegamos a la habitación no hay cama king, regreso a comentarle la situación a la recepcionista y me dice "es que yo recordaba que ahí había una cama king", le contesta el guardián, esa cama king hace tiempos que se sacó porque ya no estaba buena. (no hay plan de mantenimiento/control de camas). Además que me dieron una habitación en el primer nivel (No. 23) parece algo como carcel, no hay ventanas, todo encerrado, mala iluminación (no hay lampara en la mesa de noche) LO PEOR los colchones en PÉSIMO ESTADO, después de manejar varias horas lo mínimo que una persona espera es habitaciones con colchones acordes a lo que se está comprando de servicio. TOALLAS ideales para trapeador (cosa inexplicable). El olor en la habitación terrible. Después de quejarnos la persona en recepción pensé que iba a resolver algo ya que nos ofreció cambiarnos a una junior suite, pensé que era algo prudente, mi sorpresa fue que me la cobró como junior suite y no fue una cortesía por el mal servicio que ya estábamos recibiendo. JUNIOR SUITE (No. 15) un poco mejor que la anterior, pero pagar una JUNIOR SUITE, para tener cama con colchones en ESTADO PÉSIMO, viejos que se mira están de años, los más baratos del mercado, mi espalda no podía siquiera estar mas de 15 minutos en la cama. Toallas la misma situación, iluminación terrible, (luces blancas), cuadro con un hombre desnudo, hubiera esperado un cuadro con una foto de la localidad, algo representativo de Cobán. MANTENIMIENTO DE HABITACIONES (LIMPIEZA, PINTURA, BAÑO, ETC) TODO MALO. PARECE NO HAY GERENTE EN FUNCIONES DESDE HACE AÑOS. Personal del restaurante muy amables y serviciales, comida excelente. Jardines impecables. Esperaba tanto estar en este hotel porque las fotos me creó tantas expectativas por el entorno de la ubicación, pero las habitaciones y sobre todo los colchones,...

The hotel has an excellent view to the mountain and the creek, but you hear the vehicles passing by the road and the noises of the bathrooms in the adjoining room. Another problem are the insects. Many mosquitoes and moths. I stayed in the suite which is spacious. The normal room is very small. The overall experience was not unpleasant, but probably won't stay again. A little smile from the hotel staff would have made the stay little...
