I have made four visits to Mansion Santo Domingo. On the first one night stay, I was booked in a room with a king bed. It was a terrific room except for the fact there was a huge pit where a jacuzzi will presumably be added one day. Literally, you could see the ground at the bottom of a four or five foot deep pit. The grounds are charming, and the restaurant was quite good so, I booked a second stay a few weeks latter. A business associate was assigned to the same room with the jacuzzi pit. The customer service is consistently terrible and the restaurant, while quite good eventually is persistently under-staffed. But, I'm a slow learner and so I called and reserved six rooms for myself and several business associates. I really would like to see this family business do well. I am so disappointed that this property which has so much potential will likely fail. With just a little effort the Mansion Santo Domingo could be one of the best hotels around Cobán but, in my view, the owners' great eye for architectural design and decorations is being squandered as a result of poor management. Do the finishing touches, fix the reservation system, and learn about customer service or I feel this paradise will be lost. I will not be...
Read moreThe scenery here is beautiful but the rooms are disgusting. They give you stained towels, and bed sheets. The walls are covered in spider webs and the floor seems as if it hasn't been swept in weeks. The shower was completely clogged and filled up like a bath tub while i showered. Like I said, the scenery here is beautiful but i wouldn't recommend ever staying the night here.
I went to the receptionist and mentioned my issues with cleanliness and he held back laughter at my complaints and sent the security guard to "clean". The security guard was super nice and did his best, he is more fit to be a receptionist than the actual...

They took a very long time for coffees and breakfast. On the pro side ; hot water and very nice decor. I would suggest to...
