While in town for a mission trip, we checked in with our group. We have been here multiple times, and its always pleasant. Nice staff. Quick to help. Eager to pass out the wifi password. No problems.||This time, we were handed a key that said 'suite' and we were blown away. I didn't know there were rooms that big in this hotel! It just kept going and going.. Isolated and quiet, we were able to sleep soundly even on New Year's Eve when the hotel hosts a very loud party. ||||Pros: it's isolated. It's quiet. It's warm. Living, kitchen, dining areas AND a separate bedroom with a kind size bed and window unit should you need it. Flat screen tv and couch in living. Another flat screen in bedroom. Fair sized bathroom with a huge jetted tub (and shower head should you prefer). Windows in every room. View of mountains from living room. Wifi worked great even up in the suite. Breakfasts in the hotel are good.||||Cons: hot (really hot) water isn't guaranteed even if you're in the suite. They don't usually turn on the elevator, so prepare for stairs each trip...
Read moreThe hotel offered us services which lead to a comfortable and satisfying stay. I was pleased with the room that I stayed in,it was spacious and easy to sleep at night since the hotel is in a quiet place and pretty far from the city. The restaurant inside the hotel provides quick services along with the great food that they serve or you can always have room service :) There is free WiFi and cable at no extra cost and the WiFi is pretty reliable and no connection problems. The hotel is clean and sanitary and has an urban look along with the gardens and fountains, it just has nice scenery. The only downside is that during the nighttime they shut down the elevators in the Presidential Building. I also forgot to mention that at the reception there are workers that can talk English for you non-Spanish speakers out there. My experience altogether was comforting and enjoyable due to their appreciable services. I almost forgot that you're able to get to the top of the Presidential Building and enjoy the view around you, just follow the...
Read moreMany people are wondering what to do when they are driving from San Cristobal to Panajachel on lake Atitlan in Guatemala and not making it there by nightfall. Depending on how long it takes to cross the border, sometimes you need a place to crash, and Huehuetenango seems to be the first place after the border that has hotels. It is not a good idea to drive at night, mainly because the road is very winding and the surface has a lot of potholes. This hotel is not a 5-star, the rooms are quite dated, but have all the basics, it has a guarded parking behind the gate and a restaurant on premises. Internet worked in the room. It was a great place to spend the night before our 3-more-hour drive to Panajachel next morning - perfect for...
