Awful experience! We made a reservation through a booking site and got the confirmation a day before. When we arrived, the staff seemed annoyed to have to stop their conversation because we were there and just stared at us so I told them I had a reservation. After looking in the computer for 5 minutes, the woman behind the counter told us that she couldn't find our reservation and gave us the price of a double room (double of what was listed on the booking site and more than their INGUAT certificate hanged on the wall stated). We were tired and didn't know the area so we agreed to pay for the room. When I handed her my card she said that she would add a 7% charge (mind you that this is an unethical practice, banned in Guatemala. But on top, banks charge 3.5% to the businesses for the transaction and this hotel charges you 7% to pay with a card in 2021). Another staff member then took us to a room way in the back, with an awful view or the back of the construction. The room was humid and was definitely not worth the price. Staff would walk by and stare at us without saying a word... After a short walk around the property, we realized the place was a dump. Empty pool, abandoned looking areas, dirty and old furniture, so we decided to leave and ask for a reimbursement. Don't recommend this place at all, it has good reviews from a few years ago which is why we chose it (didn't notice the reviews were that old until after the whole incident) but these days the place looks abandoned and management...
Read moreThere was a group of five of us that stayed here for two nights. It’s a very pleasant hotel, in a quiet location off the main streets. It's only drawback might be that it was a distance from the town center.||||The rooms are basic but spacious with good lighting from outside. The bathrooms were nice and very clean. All rooms are located around a courtyard area. The hotel and courtyard were very clean. The lobby was very pleasant, and very nicely arranged with an open and airy feeling. Everyone that worked here was very friendly. A nice breakfast is provided everyday in their eating area. It usually included eggs, fresh fruit, fresh juice, toast and other daily options.Otherwise there are no restaurant options on the grounds.||||Free WiFi is available in the lobby.||||There was one incident stood out over all the other places we stayed at in Guatemala. My wife had gotten sick the first night, couldn’t go out with us the next day, and was stuck in our room for the day. The cooks went way out of their way and created a number of very light dishes and teas for my wife during the day (all off the menu). The eating area and kitchen are normally only open till about 9AM, but they checked on her during the day and opened the kitchen when she needed something. The woman managing the lobby also checked in on her. They are an amazingly thoughtful group that went way out of their way for us.||||All in all a very nice place with outstanding service. I'll...
Read moreThis hotel is one of those surprises that delight the senses, a place we will come back to again. It is an older property that is very well maintained with ample rooms, really clean and nice bathrooms and HOT water that pounds from the shower -- almost a requirement for me. ||||Our room opened onto the garden patio, with a profusion of flowers in every color possible and in the night, their perfume was almost overwhelming. The scent in our room was fresh and clean like the best cut flowers with the advantage of knowing they were going to be there in the morning as well. ||||We ordered the breakfast, which was typical Guatemalan, with a bowl of thin oatmeal -- really delicious -- eggs, refried beans, tortillas or bread, fruit and coffee. Lots of protein to start the day. ||||The staff were very friendly, and while the hotel locks the front security gate at 10 pm, Carlos rode his bicycle out to open it for us and was so very...
