Aviva is a rare gem—a sanctuary of design, comfort, and luxury nestled in the lush hillside of Tzununa. We loved it! From the moment we arrived, we felt wrapped in beauty and care. Every detail has been thoughtfully considered, from the earthy textures and natural materials to the expansive lake views that greet you at sunrise.||But let me talk about that bed. The king-size mattress is pure heaven—so good I nearly couldn’t get out of it! I sank into it like a cloud, completely enveloped in rest. The only thing that could pull me out was the breathtaking sight of the volcanoes and lake at dawn, which forced me to gape in wonder from my gorgeous private terrace. (Every room has a huge private terrace).||The amenities at Aviva are just as impressive. I loved the stylish hotel pool, the Bose speakers in every room, and the thoughtful inclusion of yoga mats—such a gift for early morning stretches overlooking the lake. The shower was powerful and hot, and the whole space is crafted for both relaxation and inspiration with thoughtful art and beautiful textiles.||And then there’s the food. The brunch was exquisite—the only place I know of in Tzununa where you can get a truly high-quality cappuccino. The eggs Benedict were on point, served with grace and attention to detail in their beautiful restaurant/bar.||Tzununa is a perfect retreat from the busier towns around Lake Atitlán with so many incredible places to study sustainable ecological living modalities. Aviva's energy was calm, refined, and deeply nourishing. And yet it’s only a short tuk-tuk or boat ride from more well known San Marcos.||The hosts were incredible—warm, present, and clearly passionate about creating a space that feels like home - everything felt intentional and heart-centered.||If you’re looking for a place to unwind, reset, and feel held by nature and beauty, Aviva is it. I can’t wait...
Read moreI could not have imagined how lush this stay would be. To encounter this level of boutique hotel exquisiteness on Lake Atitlan is truly otherworldly. ||The love and attentiveness poured into every detail of Aviva is palpable. The marshmallow soft king-size bed is so inviting with the fluffiest pillows and comforters and panoramic window views all around. The sweet and stylish rocking chairs on the full-size balcony of each room overlook the lake and jungle. The gas fireplace is so atmospheric and warming, and then the Bose speakers, the french press, the large full body mirrors with lighting options! ||While I had this magnificent views all around me, I was entirely hugged by privacy the entire time and could neither see nor hear anyone else from my room. From the design to the detail, everything in this place is so full of intention. I wandered down and took a dip in the heated pool in the evening hours, and it was so quiet and peaceful. I must've stayed there an hour enjoying the night song of the forest around me, before returning for a delicious hot shower.||The next morning, amidst the birdsong, I had a two hour Zoom call from my bed with perfect peace and excellent wifi. Afterwards, coffee and brunch at the hotel restaurant was absolutely delicious - best rendition of chilaquiles I've had, and what an artistic and light atmosphere, down to the paintings on the wall and the soft live music (it was a Saturday morning). I love the way the owners have built around the natural rock faces, and it's very clear that someone around here has a green thumb! Everyone on staff is so friendly and forthcoming if you have any questions or needs. ||I'm gushing, but this is an exceptional base for exploring the lake and a gem in Tzununa. If you're lucky enough to find availability amidst these few select rooms, jump on it! I can't wait...
Read moreWhat an incredible experience of both peace and luxury. I enjoyed my time at AvivA from the moment I stepped across the threshold until I very reluctantly gave back the key. My room was a beautiful work of art with every detail well manicured, and the view was stunning. The bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Every amenity was provided for. The rare luxury of drinking water from the tap in these parts was a nice bonus. And the fireplace was an unexpected spoil that really made my evening even more enjoyable. The staff was so kind, polite and helpful. They provided everything I needed and more for me to be able to have the best stay possible. In all the spaces I have stayed around the lake, this was by far the best experience I have ever had. Looking forward to my next visit which will hopefully be soon because I miss it already. Oh and the pool was such a fun way to spend the afternoon surrounded by nature and beautiful ascetics.
Also I cannot rave enough about the amazing food at the restaurant. My meal was delicious, fresh and beautifully presented. I'm Def going back to taste everything because the quality was incredible and I left...
