Grand Hôtel central — Hotel in Conakry

Floor of room was dirty. Tile floor never swept. Only one bathroom towel which was a challenge as the shower flooded the bathroom when turned on. Toilet paper was showered and soaking wet. The hotel expected me to use it regardless. |Breakfast was continental breakfast consisting of bread rolls (very good), butter and jam. I asked for cheese and the waiter nearly snapped my head off for daring to ask for cheese. I gues it may be illegal in Conakry. ||The restaurant was closed due to Ramadan and dinner could only be had at Le Beirut, a buffet restaurant on the 6th floor. I arrived at 20:00. Only soup left, a good lentil soup. Serving dishes were not filled again. For the pleasure of eating a bowl of lentil soup I paid the full price of the buffet. Not their fault...

Stayed here basically because nothing else was available in town. The rooms were functional but the bed wasn’t made up in a hygienic way. It was missing a sheet between the mattress and the duvet so when you are in bed the duvet, which I assume isn’t cleaned daily, is against your skin. I don’t expect to have to remake my own bed in a hotel before using it.

The area immediately outside was a dreadful mix of beggars and street vendors. Decided to forfeit our second night and relocate to somewhere that felt safer.

On the plus side, the cafe is decent and the staff were very helpful and pleasant.

Overall, Cheaper place but still way overpriced for such a low-end location with no breakfast included and definitely nothing...

I was in Conakry on business for 5 days and stayed at The Grand Hotel Central at the recommendation of a colleague. I was pleasantly surprised! The rooms were clean and very modern. The coffee and pastries were quite delicious. I heard from a fellow guest that the pastry chef was paris-trained.||I was excited to hear that the hotel had a Lebanese restuarant on the roof top; Le Beirut. The food was authentic Lebanese. I recommend the barbecued chicken as well the beef swarma with hummus and tabooli. It was soo good!||The hotel staff were very helpful and eager to please which was nice.||I will definitely stay here on my next trip to...
