HOTEL EL DORADO — Hotel in La Ceiba

We recently stayed the night here as a stop off point before heading to San Pedro Sula. Given the price, you can't ask for much more. The building felt safe and secure. The front desk staff was very nice and very helpful. The room was spacious, very clean, and quiet. The beds were super comfortable. The AC in our room took about 5 minutes to really get going, but once it did it blew COLD air. Within an hour or two the room was frigid. The bathroom was clean. Our shower only had room temperature water, but given how hot it was outside that wasn't an issue. As a bonus...the hotel sells half liter bottled drinks for 22 lempira, (about 90 cents US) cheaper than what you find at the gas closest gas station.

There are a few restaurants, a large grocery store, 2 gas stations, and an ATM within a couple of blocks, so plenty of places to go for necessities. If we're ever back in La Ceiba, we know...

I stayed at this hotel in July 2024 for one night. The pictures online were misleading. Pros: -Conveniently located across the street from the bus terminal -the reception staff were very kind and accommodated my request to change rooms. -there are some restaurants nearby

Cons: the room I was originally given was derelict- stained sheets with hair and burn marks, black floors, crusty towels, chipped painted, dark smudges across the walls, a sink that wasn’t attached properly to the wall, the shower dripped, the ceiling boards were uneven and not properly in place. It was abhorrent. On the website this is the room with yellow walls and the pictures are very misleading, -I requested a room change and the second room was better (online pic shows room with white walls) but the sheets and towels were still not clean. Overall, it was not good value as the condition and cleanliness...

We stayed at Hotel El Dorado for one night en route to Utila. It was located a short 10min walk from the Cristina bus terminal and a 20 minute taxi ride from the ferry wharf.|The rooms are very spacious with a separate living/dining room in addition to the bedroom and ensuite. The bedroom had a flatscreen tv with cable, including a few English speaking stations. There was also air conditioning in the bedroom which worked very well. The wifi signal was good and there was also free drinking water in the reception area. One staff member spoke English. There is a Chinese restaurant in the same complex. |This is a great low cost option when...
