I was visiting Gracias, Honduras, during the holy week (Semana Santa) in April, 2022. Before my trip to Honduras I had looked up several hotels and read all reviews. This hotel, to my great astonishment later on, had excellent reviews. Therefore, I booked my entire stay (about 8 days) and paid upfront for 4 days (non-refundable). The bathroom was dirty and smelled of urine, and the toilet seat was broke. There were large ants crawling all around the bathroom fixtures and on the bathroom floor. And I am talking about big ants, not the small ones you commonly see. But the last straw what made me leave was the hotel owner claiming that I have someone else staying with me. I tried to explain in my limited Spanish ability that this was nonsense, but that I do have a large family and friends that live in Gracias. Also, that I had left with a family member on the morning of that date to a nearby town (Santa Rosa de Copan) to visit and shop. When we returned, we decided to leave everything in the room because we were going to the festival at the central park and then later on to the local circus. When the circus was finished we returned to the room, where the family members took their things and left to their house, and I remained. ||The Lady owner then told me, in a very rude manner, that my family can not visit me at the hotel. This is utterly ridiculous. The next morning, I simply left to another hotel, even with two more days of paid stay at the Jardin Cafe. ||I do not recommend this hotel and I am quite surprised at the reviews. The hotel is located in an industrial part of town, a bit far from central park, and not quite as clean as people have written. ||My advise is that there are much better hotels in Gracias to consider, with comparable prices, if not cheaper. I stayed in one that is much more cleaner and have much better location and garage parking. For me, and going forward, I will look first for availability at the Tierra Lenca Hotel. And never at the...

My only ick, which bothered me somewhat was the absence of any real ‘hotel hours…’ If you’re just running a café / restaurant, that’s great; do as you wish with your hours…However, as soon as you wish to expand to accommodate guests, you need the staff-infrastructure to handle that, no matter how busy or empty the place ultimately is. You cannot feasibly open the reception at 11:30am and close it at 21:00, mimicking the hours of the restaurant… that’s a disservice to anyone staying there or wishing to spend the night, only to show up to a sign stating ‘cerrado.’ At least keep a late night phone number that people could call in this case… maybe there is, but there’d be no way of knowing as it wasn’t stated anywhere. And for a place of this caliber, I was surprised that there was no website or online portal. This is especially annoying when you come back from a 2000M hike, only to realize you’ve got no way of getting into the gated property…
Nevertheless, the place is beautiful, and I was very happy to find Paulaner being served there - this place...
Read moreWe came here on recommendation from an employee at D&D Brewery for my wife’s birthday and it was perfect. We got a private room ($35/night inc great breakfast) which was lovely and spacious. Very clean with an incredibly comfortable bed, good bathroom with hot water and plenty of plug sockets! The WiFi throughout the hostel is pretty decent too. |Angel, the owner and manager totally lived up to his name and was so friendly and sociable and helpful throughout our stay! Gave us advice about where to go and what to do in Gracias while we were there and how to get to our next destination and hung out with us on the evening of my wife’s birthday. He also made us a pizza for free which was absolutely brilliant! All the food we ate here was great quality and very good sized portions!|Overall we had a pretty perfect stay while we were here!! Lovely rooms, great hostel, tasty food, plenty of cold beers and great staff and company! What more could you ask for?!|Gracias is not really a popular location with international tourists yet, but coming here alone would make it worth a visit! Highly highly...
